hanerPosts: 245February 6, 2008 at 2:20 pm #652098Would have to go w/ the Pounders and Jakes. I have a bunch of Double 10’s, just dont seem to catch much on them. Wish i had Mallards black bulldog. Picked up 3 Blou Blings last week and 2 new Jakes this week. I think Suzy Sucker will become a top choice soon.
February 6, 2008 at 2:47 pm #652103The Magnum real fish by Musky Innovations had some action last year. Still trying to figure it out along with the dawgs.

HHHMMMMMMMM….anything else you don’t want to talk about
February 6, 2008 at 3:16 pm #652118Many moons ago, I caught a 50 incher on a green Cisco Topper. That was before catch and release, so today it hangs on my wall.
timmyPosts: 1960February 6, 2008 at 3:25 pm #652109That would be a toss-up between a Billy-Fin bucktail, a freshly dead sucker harnessed like a jerkbait, and a live sucker on a quickstrike. If I absolutely HAD to produce a fish, I think I would opt for the rigged dead sucker.
Sometimes and old-school method can be awful deadly…..

There’s alot of things I’d rather not talk about
I will talk about this question though, will Ram Jams “Black Betty” catch me more “skies”?February 6, 2008 at 4:16 pm #652145Quote:

I guess the answer to that is…..Only if you are in a red 619 with Merc’s on the back Sorry Lars, but you suck
February 6, 2008 at 4:27 pm #652149It seems that most muskie junkies are out there with the “go big or go home” idea when it comes to bait selection. Don’t get me wrong, I huck big stuff too
The “Skinner” is my favorite. Pull and pause, just like a jerbait….Bam Da Lam

February 6, 2008 at 5:16 pm #652166Muskie Treats and Phantoms for glidebaits, SS Shads for crankin’/jerkin’, Black Stillwater for topwater, Sandcat for a dive and riser. With all the boats clink…clank…clunkin’ double 10’s everywhere you go I choose not to use them much, although they do have their place in the tackle box.
Derek HansonPosts: 592February 6, 2008 at 5:58 pm #652172Shaley I ordered my 13 double 10’s from tackle booty off e-bay as well. 13 for $79 after shipping and tax wasn’t a bad deal. About $6 a lure compared to the $20-$25 per lure in the store for the same thing. There exactly made just like the cowgirl except some of the tinsel is slightly different. I don’t know if that is good or bad…will have to wait and see.
February 6, 2008 at 6:24 pm #652179You might want to replace the hooks and splitrings on those Tacklebooty baits
BillFindorffPosts: 11February 6, 2008 at 6:31 pm #652180I think it is really fun to use big Suicks. Perch, Black, if the water is stained orange/black.
Derek HansonPosts: 592February 8, 2008 at 4:22 am #653181Jeremy- I don’t think they look that bad. There’s two triple split rings on mine and the hooks are pretty close to the size of the cowgirls hooks. Have you used tackle booty’s lures before or have you ordered them? I think they are an exact remake of the cowgirl except the tinsel is slightly thinner diameter than the cowgirl. I think these lures will work as good as the cowgirl.
February 8, 2008 at 6:09 pm #653288He must have started using better components. I bought a few a while back that had small hooks and crappy split rings.
February 8, 2008 at 11:00 pm #653380I’m not as versed as most of you guys in the hunt for old Esox but I’ve had pretty good luck on Inhaler bucktails in the #8 Indiana, They troll really well I’ve never caught one casting, but last year I messed up on my only shot all year but that fish was coaxed in on a Rapala Super X-Rap in a shad pattern, what a beautiful bait
jaredwoodPosts: 21February 11, 2008 at 1:37 am #653737I like to throw the Rubber Dubber won a couple of tournys on that baits. I like the walleye colored one the best and also purple with red tail. also like to make my own bucktails like the size 8 colorado blades.
Derek HansonPosts: 592February 11, 2008 at 4:48 am #653796Rubber Dubber? I’ve never heard of it before. Who makes it and where can I find one? It looks similar to a bull dawg or a suzy sucker? I like that red color on the one in your picture..I’m trying to find a redish black colored magnum bull dawg but there hard to find.
February 14, 2008 at 1:15 pm #655024I throw Llungen tails quite a bit and will be trying some Gerry Girls this year also. Otherwise I like to throw Globes and have a couple of really nice custom globes.
By the way, the bait above is called the Salmo Skinner to my knowledge, and it comes in two sizes, a 6 inch and 8 inch version I believe. In general they are for shallow fishing.

February 15, 2008 at 11:29 pm #655666I’m a big fan of the Phantom line of jerkbait gliders. The new twister tail Phantom has actually worked quite well for me!
When I’m in the back of the boat, 90% of the time I’m throwing a glider.
Up front in the bow I generally am working a M&G spinnerbait or Inhaler bucktail.February 16, 2008 at 3:46 am #655726Gary, Have you been using the large squirrely phantom? Stingler and I noticed the larger ones ride a lot higher in the water than the regular ones. The small twister tails seem to be better. Is that your observation as well?
February 20, 2008 at 12:48 pm #656946Yes, they do ride a bit higher, which I like for the cabbage on Minnetonka. I like the slow glide on them.
Derek HansonPosts: 592March 1, 2008 at 4:17 am #660667Picked up a new baby mallard top raider last week, hopefully it produces this year. I have caught so many fish on my other mallard that I figured I’d retire it because I don’t think it is making that good “plooping” sound any more. I also picked up a new walk the dog topwater bait called the “home wrecker,” this looks like a sweet lure. Similar to the size of the Doc, but a little heavier and maybe slightly wider. I love the walk the dog topwater lures, but they are tough to hook fish. I can’t even tell you guys how many fish I’ve had blow up on my jack pots and vipers and I think I’ve hooked and landed maybe 3 muskies on them. Oh the sickness of buying more and more lures!!!

Hey Baby mallard, I wonder if the name holds true We’d better not leave our wives and daughters unattended

That is the sole reason why I dumped all of my jackpots and replaced them with weagles.
jaredwoodPosts: 21March 2, 2008 at 12:20 am #660825I make the Rubber Dubber and they catch alot of muskys. I make almost any color combo. They were going to be made by suick. I am going to start to pour somemore here in the next couple of weeks. Matt
