January 11, 2004 at 4:36 am #2136I met Jim at the Bluffland Whitetail Expo today and got to see his buck for myself, very impressive indeed. Jim is a great guy and I would like to put all of the rumors about this buck to rest for good.
1. The buck was not shot in the city limits.
I think how this rumor got started was that the buck did run into the city limits after it was shot and laid down and died in the city limits.
2. The buck was not shot out of season.
3. The DNR did not confiscate the deer.
It really saddens me how these rumors get so blown out of proportion, like gator hunter said in a earlier postQuote:
Most of these rumors begin with pure jealousy.
We need to be more united as sportsmen in the end these rumors will just come back to hurt or sport and give it a bad name.

January 11, 2004 at 4:52 am #2137These sheds are from Jim’s buck from previous years, the larger one was found by Sgt.Rock. Brian (Sgt.Rock) stopped by the Expo today and gave the shed to Jim and told him the shed was Jim’s to keep! Now that is a true sportsman, my hat is off to you Brian and I would be happy to spend a day on the water with you any time.

January 27, 2004 at 1:45 pm #2183Hey Steve: I just read this thread and found my name mentioned as the one doing this. Thanks for the praise but it wasn’t me. I know Jim but I wasn’t the guy that had the shed. It was another Brian he knows. Easily confused I guess.

Top Velvet Buck by Bow!August 31, 2004 at 12:11 am #3118First off, that is a beautiful buck . On the Buckmaster scoring and how they score all imperfections, I ask “What imperfections?” That deer is awesome and no deer should have “deductions” in scoring. You might notice I am not a fan of record books . I remember all the rumors surrounding this buck and it just makes me disgusted on some peoples attitudes. If I ever get a true MONSTER buck, few people will see it and it will not go in the book for fear of all the stories that always fly about big bucks and how they were taken.

August 31, 2004 at 12:59 am #3119I agree with you AmWatson, I have meet Jim and he is a great guy and an ethical hunter. All the rumors that were flying around about this buck were just that, rumors. The plain and simple truth is that the people that start these rumors are just plain jealous and wish they could have been the one to bag this buck, its too bad that they can not just be happy for there fellow sportsmen when they bag a trophy of a lifetime.
