I will have 2 this year, my daughters are 15 and 11 and it is correct that 10&11 year olds can hunt this year without hunter safety my 11 year old is in class now and they have their field day (hands on) scheduled for sat so we will miss one day but will be going on sun, there are some regs to check out on the mentoring law before anyone goes, mentor must have a license, be within arms reach, and only one weapon per each pair mentor/minor to name a few.

Having a second child with is a grey area. I have tried to get a clarification on this, and the people at the field stations won’t touch it. All have refered me back directly to the warden, which hasn’t returned my call. I have a nephew I’m taking, and my 11 year old daughter is running the cameras. Plan is if he gets his deer, they trade positions. I want to make sure that is leagal before taking to the stands…..anyone know the answer?

My son is in HUnter Safety right now and the rule as it was explained to us is, one hunter/one mentor/one gun period.

one hunter- one mentor is right however I’m not sure if a mentor can have a child 12-15 along as well if he also has a minor, we are playing it safe anyways and one daughter will be with me and the other with my father in law, less debate over who gets to shoot first anyways

Just got done talking to the dnr on there chat. they told me that the person that has not taken the class and the person who is 18+ have to sit right next to each other. the person that has gone through the hunter safety course can sit anywhere as long as they are with in voice and eye sight of the person 18+
