    60 inch all the way!
I just went to one last year.
Remember you do not have to put it all the way down.

I like being able to look at a glance to the front and seeing it myself.

Watcha guys think? Already got conflicting advice on trolling motor shaft length. Dealer says 54″ is enough, others have said go with the 60″.

54 is enough in calm water, but in choppy water you will lose thrust and the autopilot can get a little dissoriented at times. For a few extra $$ I would get the 60″

Do you want or need a Marine Radio? Just a thought.

Here is another idea. I too have a 520 at the console and a Garmin sonar only unit. I wish it were bigger. If you got 2 520’s you move one to the bow when using the trolling motor. When trolling or moving from one spot to another put both 520’s at the console. One with a full view of sonar and the other on GPS.

With having both of these 520’s you will only have to buy 1 GPS puck, unless you really want to be exact by mounting the second puck at the bow. Either way though you will be able to share data through a network. Maybe more than what you need or want, but I thought I would throw it out there to consider. If you went with the second 520 I would think that it would only be about $300.00 more.

    60″ shaft for sure!!

    Get a 3 bank charger.

Go with two 520’s (networked). You only need the head only
at the bow…..no module or transducer.
Then you have a backup GPS if one ever goes down for
    not much more $$.

How about some Whitecap splash guards!

A pair of GPS-capable locators will give you a back-up in case one takes a digger at an inopportune time, like out on Mille Lacs or your favorite LARGE body of water at night or in unfavorable weather conditions.

A pair of 520s is a good idea. If you had a few extra bucks lying around, you might consider moving up to a larger screen at the console (like a 27/28 or 37/38) and keeping the 520 at the bow.

I will admit this idea did cross my mind but I was scared to propose it because it seemed radical at first thought. I will seriously consider it.

Wow those are good prices compared to what I would have to pay here in Canada.
    520C is $630 and x67 is $370
I will likely buy the entire package, both the MinnKota and Lowrence products, in the US.

Why 3 bank? There is only two batteries at the front – is the third for the motor battery?

If that’s the case, all you need to do is click >>here<<. ALL of my electronics for my last two boats (trolling motors, GPS/locators, radios, map chips, etc) have come from Wade at Jolly Ann Marine. Not a chance I’d go anywhere else!

You can go with the 54″ shaft, but you will be selling it and upgrading to the 60 before the end of Summer

Yup I only have a 2 bank on mine it’s stupid, I gotta get a seperate charger out everytime, but since I have an extra charger laying around, I haven’t quite convinved myself to get the three bank or a seperate one for the main battery. Now if my boat didn’t already have the 2 bank charger I would’ve had a 3.

Eyetroller gets the trophy on this one. That is a clutch concept that I have not seen or thought of. I hate splitting the screens and flipping back and forth to zoom. Instant headache. 2 units on the dash with the option of GPS front and back in situations…clutch.

Can the clock move any slower?

Well, I’m heading out of the office at noon today to sit in the rain all weekend. This will be my first chance to be on stand this season. I was hoping for better weather…but if it lets up at all after the 2-3 days of rain, I’m thinking they should start moving. Good luck to everyone else chasing them this weekend.

I going to do some still hunting tonight after work. I’ve never done it with a bow, but it’s my favorite method with a gun (during this wet weather).

    Good luck!

I have been watching the Hour by Hour weather forecast for my area, and I am really looking forward to Sunday morning – should be a great morn!

Without the wind, this is my favorite weather to hunt in! Cloudy, a little rain or snow and the deer seem to be moving more!
