My good friend and taxidermist – Kirk Peterson shot this buck just after daylight on the opening morning of the WI bow season. Kirk passed on this same buck last year on opening morning. The last 4 days that Kirk has hunted he’s killed 3 bucks (157 incher, 156 incher and this one – 137 incher)! Congratulations Kirk on a great looking buck!

If you harvest a trophy this year (deer, bear, elk, moose etc…) give Kirk a call. I personally recommend him. He does an awesome job and he does all my mounts too. In fact, a few years ago he won the Pro Division for the State of WI Taxidermy on a buck that he harvested and mounted. Kirk does over 160 whitetails alone each year and this is his full time profession.

Kirk is also an iDohunting supporter and is donating a $50 off coupon on a shoulder mount for the 2009 iDohunting Fall Harvest Photo Contest.

Thank you Kirk and congrats again on another awesome buck!

    Congrats Kirk!

Brad introduced me to Kirk last year when I had a chance to check out his taxidermy shop. IMPRESSIVE!!! He’s getting my business from now on, though I have to tag something first.

In the course of talking turkeys and deer, he finished sewing cape, forming ears, and cleaning/brushing a buck that he was mounting for another hunter. Amazing work that seems second nature to the guy. It’s easy to trust a guy that’s also an avid hunter, and knows just how important each trophy is to another hunter.

You are right about that Jay. He actually spent a total of 8 hours on stand and killed those three bucks.

And you should see Kirk’s collection of the bucks he killed. I will save that for another post.

Congrats Kirk on a great deer! Kirk is a new parent of twins and this played a part of his decision to harvest this boy! No excuse needed with this big boy however. His Taxidermy place is quite impressive and his knowledge of deer is even greater.

Thats great to be able to pass on this buck one year and get a chance at it the next.

    Wish minnesota was like that.

    Nice buck! thick rack, cool

I suppose as a taxidermist you don’t get much time in the woods might as well hit one the first day.
