They will alway interfere with each other. Both are running at the same freq. (I believe it’s 192khz) The trasducer frequency needs to be a minimum of 50khz difference to run together.

Posted this to see if anyone had a hard answer to two units creating interference with one another in water over 15 feet deep. I currently run a lowrance 334 on the front and 332 on the transom. With both graphs running, the bowmount unit is bothered with interference, which also seems to confuse the unit as well with abnormal, infrequent pinging. The transom unit is rarely bothered by this, but does happen occasionally. This is immediately fixed by turning off the transom unit. Lowering the bowmount sensitivity somewhat improves the situation, but not a cure by any means.
Question: Can this be fixed or am I destined to always turning off my transom unit (or at least the sonar portion)?
Would this be fixed by putting a hummingbird on the bow-would the frequencies be different?I really like running two units at once in many situations and love the lowrance products, but is this another check mark against them????
Thanks,
Jeremy
Doc, One thing you can do is adjust the ping setting on one unit. You want to try to get them to ping out of synch. You already noted that sensitivty option.
Changing to another brand alone won’t help unless you also make sure that the other brand is running a different frequency transducer. Humminbird generally runs a transducer that has a 200khz 20 degree beam (which is the same as the one you’re running now with Lowrance), and it also has an 83khz 60 degree beam. These are all “dual beam” transducers on the new Humminbirds. As long as you ran the Humminbird at 83khz when you had the Lowrance running atthe same time, you would not have interference. The unit I would suggest for you would be the Humminbird 787C. It’ll do what you’re wanting to do.
By the way, Lowrance also has this option (dual beam or dual frequency) but I prefer the Humminbird when going to dual beam because of the cone angle at 200khz. Humminbird’s is 20 degrees, while Lowrance dual frequency transducers are at 12 degress on 200khz. That’s too narrow, IMO. It’ll work, but I prefer the Humminbird in this case. Additionally, you can not simply slap a dual frequency transducer on the Lowrance units you have. You can with the LCX series, but not the LMS series. I hope this makes sense. Holler if you have questions.
Thanks guys,
I’ll try the ping today and let you know what it does since I’m down at Dean’s
Wade,
Being a diehard Lowrance guy, how happy would I be with hummingbird. All I have heard are good things about hummingbird’s new stuff. Is that unit you recommended an internal antenna? Being on the front of the boat, the internal antenna has been good to me.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I’m really impressed with Humminird since Johnson Outdoors bought them (that’s he same group that owns Minn Kota motors). I’d put them side-by-side with Lowrance at this point. The menu system is intuitive and you shouldn’t have any trouble adjusting from one brand to another if you choose. The 787C comes with either an internal or external antenna, your choice.
Say hello to Dean for me! By the way, Dean has a Humminbird on his rig so you might want to ask him for his opinion on the Humminbird line. I believe he has a side imaging unit, but it basically functions the same as the 787C when it’s in basic sonar mode.
Have fun on the river! Wish I was there!!
Fishing with Bruce Samson, he just puts the back unit on hold, doesn’t have to shut it off. Like Wade, in his classes he suggests the ping rate. One other idea, can you tilt the front transducer just a bit forward and make sure you transom transducer isn’t tilted any further forward than it has to be to run right.
Just a note, Bruce and I met up to fish this fall with each of us using our own boat, our sonars tore each other apart. We had to stay away from each other. No fun when you can’t snipe at each other.

Just talked to Bruce and he says he pauses the chart and that stops the pings till he’s ready ready to go again.

Didn’t realize how fast this month is going by or I’d have mentioned Bruce is having a seminar on subjects like this at his Lowrance Class Feb 2 at Crystal-Pierz Marine in Rogers. There are sign up sheets with info on the class on both our sites.

Hate to tell you guys, but the fishing was great!
I set the front unit ping at 50% and the transom at 100%. This did substantually reduce the interference. My transom transducer is angled little up in the rear end. This I did since my boat(like most) sits nose up in the water and this way my transducer is shooting straight down. That may be one reason that the ping adjustment did work for me.
Thanks for the info guys.

I plan to purchase a unit for the the bow (to be used with Minn Kota US2) and another for the consul. Forgive me if this is a stupid question but I have never owned a fish finderGPS combo before. Can sonar be turned off and still have the GPS fully funtional to avoid frequency interferanc.

As Dan said, Yes it can. You will use the “stop chart” feature.
Hurry up, please!
I’m having a tough enough time sitting still while waiting for MN opener.
Lets see those pics! Congrats to the IDO member. That’s one big buck down and hopfully many to go!
Please wait till friday night to post the pictures, this week is going to be long enough the way it is. Let alone seeing a monster already on the ground. Way to put the down
Hey Brad, does that mean that since the lucky hunter shot a buck of a lifetime, that that gold member is out of the running for the Bluff Bucks give-a-way?
Just kidding…congrats to the lucky hunter….can’t wait to see pics and read the story!
I did not sleep last night thinking this morning I would see the pictures……………………..Looking forward to the story. Hope everyone has a great day.
It is not that big
It is bigger.
WOW can’t wait to hear the whole story.

ITS A REALLY NICE FORK HORN
Ah… maybe it’s right brow is a big fork horn!
i’m starting to wonder if this isn’t another one of thoughs i-net rumors i’m going back to the fishing side
I am begining to think this post was a prediction…..
Tell us oh wise one which ” Gold Member” will arrow a monster buck?
