I’ll be over at the seminar at Alliance Church. Scott Fairbarn is speaking on walleye fishing.

I rented this limer for some food plots earlier this year. This thing is awesome! Spreads faster than anything else I’ve pulled and holds a lot more. I pulled it with the wheeler and the truck. This thing is built like a tank, no more stopping and busting up wet lime…. Just keep rolling baby!

    Very cool!

Someone told me that if you lime in the spring, it will not take affect until the following year. The same person told me that pelletized lime will make a difference in your PH level the same year thus helping your crop. Is that true?

True for Ag, barn, or powdered lime. I round up and lime all new food plots the fall before their first planting. By spring the round up has taken care of any substancial root systems and the lime has had time to work in. Pellitized could work in a matter of weeks depending on rain.

Pelletized lime will work faster….but doesn’t last as long. Pelletized will probaly be effective for 2 years. Ag lime will be effective for 6 to 8 years. Obviously it depends on soil type but here in Jackson/Trempleau county, this is about average. When you compare costs of lime: Ag being $25- $40 a ton; compared to pelletized being $250 a ton. I will always spend less to get more.
