Should have been there the day before. JK, I had about the same luck as you did. I got there a little late at 10am and only caught an hour of the hot bite. The fish were suspended 6 feet off bottom and were coming up 4-5 feet to smack the lure. No bait and very little coaxing required. After an hour, the fish disappeared and I couldn’t find them again. I drilled about 40 holes and wasn’t able to mark a fish. I called it a day with 5 for the pan and another dozen back down the hole. BTW, the Fifeweeds (my homemade Reelweeds) didn’t impress me much. The school of fish started thinning out, so I dropped down some structure hoping to keep them around or attract some new fish. I kept them down there for an hour and half and I never marked a fish in those holes.

I spent about 3 hours on Green this Saturday and it was bad. No fish in spot 1 or 2, and only a couple little perch is spot 3. I forgot my GPS that day and I don’t know the lake very well, so I drilled a ton of holes but I never found what I was looking for. I didn’t want to get right in any of the fishhouse crowds, so after running out of gas in the auger I left for another lake.

Got these off the camera a few minutes ago. From last night. Roughly 100 yards from the house.

It kinda seems early for that but maybe its a little different were you are compared to southern MN. A velvet buck would be really cool though.

Cool pictures whittsend! From my experience, they typically shed the last week in August to the first week in Sept. It won’t be long now!

Would be nice to get one in velvet but chances of that are slim to none!

It would be nice to get some pictures all within the next couple weeks to see them harden up too to see how long it takes.

I have seen deer (through trail cam pics) lose all the velvet within about 27 hour period. Sometimes I have seen a couple days.

Ya Rob, does anyone know about how long it takes for the antlers to get to thier normal color and whiten and to harden up. A couple days or week or two? Does the rain play a part in washing the blood off.
