Way cool……hopefully he keeps it if he makes it through hunting season.

Cool Pic Ben! Is that from MN or South?
August 25, 2009 at 7:18 pm #56286Mike…looks like a “typical” 7 pointer that I usually end up getting doesn’t it?
August 25, 2009 at 7:27 pm #56288This is from down south. I think he’s a 2 year old, need to look but I believe I have some velvet pics of him from last year. He’ been a trail cam super star this past month. Tons of pics of him.

At least a double, lots of junk coming off of that skull plate. Neat picture Ben, show us some more.

Okay I stand corrected I always thought one’s like that would need to be taken out…

sorry wade
August 26, 2009 at 2:24 am #56342Must have been grazing down by that power plant again. Very cool buck!
August 26, 2009 at 11:45 am #56366Wade, I believe that was/is the exact same thought as many people had/have. Myself, I agree with letting him be for a few years as he can turn out into something very unique. I’m in the belief that a buck will never show his true potential until he reaches maturity of at least 4.5 years old. There are still some land mangers that still believe in culling that buck, but I’m not one of them.

You got that right!
August 26, 2009 at 1:45 pm #56401Good points on that, the land where I hunt last year I got a buck that had a spike up one side and small paddle antler almost on the other, big body (3yr old) but the rack was goofy and small, maybe I should have let him walk…but I know he has 2 offsping up there too with goofy racks too, they will walk this year!
August 26, 2009 at 2:44 pm #56416It reminds me of a buck that I encountered 3 years ago. It was the largest body deer that I had ever seen. On his left side he was really heavy and palmated (non-typical) with several sticker points coming off the main beam. It looked awesome! The other side he was really weak, the main beam went straight up about 14 inches and there was a crab claw on the end. That was it and his inside spread was about 15 inches.
I ended up passing him up but now I have regrets. I’m guessing that buck was at least 6 or 7 years old and he had a lot of character. Never seen him again… Sorry to hijack your thread…
