I’ll call this one YOTE or NOT?

Last Thursday evening I pulled my last camera to find this pic. On this property during archery season I was continually seeing tracks the the size of my fist. I have not been on this property much after season to check for tracks. I did notice a few yote tracks the day I pulled this camera but no large tracks. On some of my pics it was cool to see the farmer cutting wood and driving his skidloader then having a herd of deer to show up only an hour later munching on his new brush piles. Anyway again what is throwing me off is the sheer size of this dog and his snout. What do you all think? Yote or Wolf?? and I promise never to post on this again, some of you know why!

I’m going with ‘yote, ’cause of the skinny snout.

What I meant to say was “I would try to get a peak at him threw the crosshairs”

Can’t shoot him checking the camera’s. Get out there sit an hour before dark and try to get’em.

Then you won’t have to put pictures up like this one.

WOLF WOLF WOLF. I’ll be surprised if there are any deer within 20 miles of your spot come this fall. He will eat them all for sure.

Got it!! People really need to spend time learning to I.D. animals, it just amazing to me to see what some people will post and NOT know what it is. Aren’t we suppose to know and be able to distinguish our targets without a shadow of doubt before we draw down on it? Just asking

I see nothing wrong with posting something on here if you have a question about it! (Mulie vs Whitetail for example) This is an informational website and if someone has a question I don’t see the problem in asking. But Copper…it’s a Yote!

Hmmmmm. I don’t think it’s an identity thing as much as it’s a recognition thing. Let us say that you’re a bass fisherman and you rarely have your hands on a walleye. You catch an odd looking walleye and you think it may be a sauger.. SInce you don’t see these fish very often you may have a hard time figuring out what it is. I think this is the case with guys that don’t see many wolves or yotes. Me for example,, seen a few coyotes and only one wolf. I looked at this picture and didn’t know what it was, thought it was a coyote but that’s why we ask. Make sense?

I agree. the walleye, sauger and not knowing what is what, try telling that to the DNR when he’s checking your catch for the day and you’ve got 14″ “walleyes” in your live well instead of sauger’s I bet he’ll understand.

I think we’re getting off track of the original post..which is clarification of the animal. The clarification is not coming after the person harvested the animal…the animal (yote) is still very much alive. If you’re out fishing and you don’t know exactly what you have…then it’s in your best interest to let it go! (Maybe take a picture of it and post it on the fishing website for clarification)! Just my .02!

I think its a poodle. LOL OK just having fun. I believe its a yote. I hunt in an area where there are lots of wolves and I’ve seen 6 and have two on video. The snout is much to short for a wolf. Its a very cool picture!
