Here are the pics I just got of Splitter. He was in hiding and we found out he was chillin’ on the neighbor’s farm across the road for about a month. He now has been sighted on Paul’s piece the last few days. He still has about 2 weeks until he most likely will drop those precious horns. Hopefully Paul can hold him there until then.

G, not to get you confused, but this is a whitetail and not a muley. I know he has forks on his G2’s and we talked about that in our identification training, but this big ol’ boy is 100% whitetail.

Lunchtime! Looks like these deer won’t be going too far from here! Awesome looking buck and glad to hear that he’s back on Paul’s property. Hopefully he’s drop soon and we’ll see some more pics with Paul holding his sheds!

    Yes LUNCHTIME.

With the harsh winter they are having up there with a ton of snow and COLD, COLD temps, many animals are not making it. The CO in the area has put down 5 moose this year, due to the in climate weather. Paul and the CO have had to put down one fawn on his property so far this year. Paul along with many of the Wildlife Clubs up there this year are doing this supplemental feeding to help the deer herd make it through. With out this supplemental feeding during the Winter months many deer would be lost this year.

Great Pic’s! What’s up with all the deer with their tails down? Looks like the “all you can eat” place for deer.

From what I can tell, it looks like grain, wheat, corn and sugar beets,

He is a tremendous deer, but I warn you, he is not as big as he looks!

He is a main frame 4×4 with forks on his G2’s making him have 5 points each side. I again talked to Paul last night and this morning about Splitter. We both believe he still grosses in the mid maybe low 140’s. Splitters brows and main beams are a lil’ weak comparatively. Again a tremendous deer but don’t let him fool ya.

The best part is we have a TON of history with this deer. Passing on him on numerous opportunities as 3.5 year old was a tough deal, but now look at him as a 4.5 year old. I just hope he stays healthy and packs on the inches this Summer. Paul and I (mainly Paul since it is his land) have had some real bad luck of following a particular deer only to have a neighbor shoot it. It happened with the 2 previous giants we tracked after we both had close encounters with them both. I just hope this next Fall that Paul shoots this deer. I know it doesn’t matter to Paul who shoots Splitter, as long as it is someone that hunting his property. But if it were up to me, I would want Paul to harvest this deer.

Believe me, no one deserves it more.

    Keep the pics coming!

I hope you guys can get a few good pics of him in velvet so we can see how many inches he puts on!

Any guesses as to what he may score next year??? If he’s a 4.5 yr old in the pics you’ve posted, I’ll guess he’ll gross mid 150’s and add another kicker or two.

Justin, that is exactly what Paul and I were discussing. He already has 12″ G2’s and his one G3 is about 10″. What else can he put on??? If he would have thrown a G4, I’m guessing he would have done that already??? His brows have been about the same the last 2 years. So I’m with you, if he stays healthy and gets the nutrition he needs. I’m guessing that he will throw some junk on, stay a main framed 4×4 and hopefully put on some serious mass. We have chased bigger deer up there, but the story behind this one keeps growing. Going from 4.5 to 5.5 year old, I would put this guy at a 160” gross deer next year. Only time will tell. The first mission is to get those sheds!

Great looking buck and pictures! It will be interesting to see what he puts on for inches next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if he splits his brows…

As of last night he is still holding on.

It may be a few weeks before he drops. My buddy Paul watched him bird dog a lil fawn around the woods last night for quite awhile. She was definitley coming into heat. His testosterone appears to be still hanging in there.

    Splitter may have dropped!

We are waiting to see if he makes his prescence this week yet, but Paul believes he came in last night with nothing on his head!

If it is True, it was within a day or so from when he dropped them last year.
