that deer has a ton of mass copper What month did you shoot him on?? Im going to say 148 2/8″ gross Its hard to tell but it looks like an 8 point??? correct me if im wrong
WOW Surprisingly less than 10″ of deduct ??? I figured about -3″ on G1’s, minus less than 1″ on G2’s, about -3″ on G3’s, about minus 9″ on missing left side G4 ??? For a grand total of about 15″ deduct, give or take an 1/8… Go figure…. Either way, like said “a real Beauty”

Honestly, I don’t even remember what my net score was. He is a 8pt taken Nov. 3rd. of 2003. He grossed 152 4/8″. I think he had about 8″ of deductions. This deer will always be the one I remeber as it’s my biggest, I took him on the ground in a cornfield walking to my stand in a snow storm. This property has a stipulation that I leave it alone a week before gun season for the gun hunters but I asked the hunters if I could hunt a few more days after getting a few pics of him. It turned out I shot it the day after I asked. Never had seen this deer other than trail cam pics. Some awefully close guesses for crappy pics!
I’ll keep the post going. Here’s a buck I shot back in 1983. It was my very first time deer hunting and the very first deer that I ever saw in the woods. He’s an 11 pointer.
Take a guess – I do have official gross and net measurements.
hmmm tough one brad….i will say 138 5/8 gross, 130 1/8 net as a 10 point
148 Gross
142 Net
Awesome first deer! Must have thought,, dang, this is easy!

My dad was with me and when he saw the buck lying on the ground, he said “Son, it will be a very long time before you see another buck like this!” I laughed at him! Well… little did I know how right he was and I found out about 15 years later.
What an impressive trophy room you must have Brad! My guesses: 130 5/8 (Gross) 126 3/8 (Net)!?!
Being I have a difficult time judging deducts. I’ll say a gross of 133.
And the closest guess goes to Walleyebuster (he guessed gross 148 gross and 142 net).
This buck officially measured out at 152 Gross and 145 Net
Pretty deceiving isn’t it? The buck was actually scored by Jack Naylor (IDO Field Staff and Official B&C Scorer).
Here’s the details if you want to see where you underestimated it:
Right Side
Main Beam 23 6/8
G1 – 7
G2 – 9 2/8
G3 – 8 6/8
G4 – 4 1/8
H1 – 4 4/8
H2 – 4 1/8
H3 – 4
H4 – 3 4/8
Left Side
Main beam 23 1/8
G1 – 6 5/8
G2 – 10 4/8
G3 – 8 5/8
G4 – 2
H1 – 4 3/8
H2 – 4 3/8
H3 – 4
H4 – 3 2/8
Abnormal Point 1 7/8
Inside Spread 16 1/8
OK – who’s going to post the next buck for us to guess?
HA! I win with the closest. And shame on the rest of you for thinking Brad’s FIRST deer was so small!
The beams got me…. and now that I look, it has pretty good mass all along the main beams Those inches add up

And here I thought it was because you had never shot a big buck!
I’ll give you all a shot at my 2004 10 pointer. Most of you may remember when I posted this buck after I harvested it. Since then I had it officially scored for Pope and Young by Steve Ashley who had just scored the Becker Buck.
Buck on the right…. Other buck (12 point)I shot back in 1999. We named him, Morphadite! Steve Ashley scored it also because he wanted to see what it’d score but came up short of Pope and Young one inch of typical 125 inches! Steve couldn’t believe it. I just like it because it’s a typical and nontypical all in one deer!
i would say the gross score of that 10 point is 145 4/8″ and net would go 139 2/8″ On the other hand, that 12 point DOES NOT make P & Y?!??!
Wow Brad, I was guessing a 14″ inside and tallest tine maybe 8″ Great buck!
Great looking buck Zimmy! I’ll guess 154 3/8 gross and 148 7/8 net.
Nice bucks Zimmy! The ten-point looks to have very good symmetry! My guesses: 152 5/8 (Gross) 150 3/8 (Net)!?!
Sorry for the late results guys. I lost a good friend this week. I was told he went to bed with no problems and passed away sometime during the evening. Too young to leave us at the young age of 53. My buddy Navy Davy will be missed.
Now for the results. This boy did not have much for deduction which most of you picked up on!
The gross score of this 10 pointer was 156 4/8 and after deductions he netted 154 0/8 inches. Good job, guys!
