That’s the only lure I’ve ever seen mike use too! I think he should change his name to FMWatson.
December 27, 2007 at 4:28 am #637041Luke, That looks like a nice spoon. I have been doing pretty good on the Lindy Rattle spoons and the Frosties, Frostie have been getting the better sized fish.
Where can a guy get some of the CJ&S spoons, Fleet farm, Cabelas?? Thanks
Wallster ><((((>December 27, 2007 at 4:32 am #637043Luke, those lightning spoons have a mega hook on them from the ones I used. I use forage minnows and swedish pimples and have caught gills down to 4″ plenty of times. But it is a great bait for catching hog gills. I like the smallest size forage minnow so far this year. Its caught multiple 12″ crappies, a couple walleyes, big gills, and bass. The hook is silver but is supposed to be Red The glow is a great plus around 4:15 when it starts to just get a little bit dim out and you can work out a few more crappies. tip with a waxie, minnow head, or nothing at all. This thing rocks my socks off!!
timmyPosts: 1960December 27, 2007 at 1:45 pm #637117This one has been my most productive. I haven’t actually angled yet, so I can’t post on my favorite with hooks, yet…..

Derek HansonPosts: 592December 28, 2007 at 4:02 am #637392That’s a cool spoon Luke!! I have never seen those before. My most productive jig/lure so far this year has been the ratso. Crappies and sunfish love them.
December 23, 2008 at 12:08 am #200147I was driving tonight looking for deer and came across some properties and farms that looked good, but were for sale. Some of them still had people living in them and some didn’t. I was wondering if anyone has ever called the Realtor on the signs on houses for sale for permission to hunt?? Is it a good idea or just a waste of time
December 23, 2008 at 12:12 am #45897You could pretend you are intrested in the property go look at it with the realtor and then ask permition to hunt.
December 23, 2008 at 1:03 am #45898I actually gave this a try a year or so ago and did not have any luck. The properties I tried were all vacant sites and I was given a runaround as to why I couldn’t hunt. (Someone still ownes the property, liability issues, company policy, etc.)
The realtors I spoke to were not very friendly when they found out I was looking to hunt the property and not buy it.
I think your best bet would be to speak with the person at the local bank who handles the forclosed properties. These are generally bank owned, and are often on the market for quite some time. (Hopefully throughout the Deer Season).
If you are able to provide your own liability insurance, perhaps keep the property free of any litter, or anything else that may keep if from selling, they may be a little more willing to let you hunt.

The realtors “usually” dont have the ability to give permission to hunt but they may give you a number to call or they may call the homeowner and then call ya back. Dont waste their time pretending your intreseted in the land.

I should have been a little more clear that I was joking and yes I agree that the realtor would need to contact the owner or give you the contact info so you could ask yourself.
December 23, 2008 at 5:21 pm #45917If the property isn’t posted, and no one is living there you can “Legally” hunt it. It is easy enough to show a warden (If it ever came to that.) that you tried to obtain permission but the property was vacant. Correct me if I am wrong if someone has a conflicting view…

Tell those same realtors not to waste contractors time either getting bids for negotiation purposes. And I know that its not all.

Maybe in MN, but in WI you CANNOT “trespass” for any reason, on any land, posted or not.
December 23, 2008 at 9:32 pm #45930I don’t know exactly what all the trespassing laws are in MN. But I do know that they aren’t very stringent and it’s really tough to actually get in trouble for trespassing.
December 23, 2008 at 10:39 pm #45931According to the minnesota hunting regulation book. It is still considered trespassing even if the property is not posted. Unable to copy and paste the wording. But it is rather clear.
December 24, 2008 at 12:45 am #45932I guess I dont see this ever happening because most realitors dont own the land and they are simply contracted to sell the property…They have no legal standing on giving permission or not to give permission….Unless they owned it…No different then asking the contracted yard man who mows the lawn for permission to hunt…..

so they “legally” cant give you permission to hunt??
Thats what I would assume. Since they are not the owners of the land they cannot make decisions for someone else.
I think your best bet would be to cross reference these parcels with a current plat book, and attempt to contact the owner either through the help of the realtor, or other means…

Thanks. It didn’t always be that way.
December 24, 2008 at 11:04 am #45947Protour…Legally give you permission to hunt= give you permission to trespass which you are doing when hunting……
December 24, 2008 at 2:45 pm #45952I don’t think there is anything wrong with contacting the Realtor for the purpose of getting the owners name and contact information. The owner or potentially a care taker would be the only persons that will be able to give you permission.
As for whether its legal to hunt a property that is vacant and not posted whether in WI, MN or any other state.. Who cares?
IMO – If you don’t have explicit permission to hunt on someone elses property, you shouldn’t be hunting on it. Regardless if you think you can skirt around the rule of the law.
December 24, 2008 at 5:34 pm #45959I disagree on legally entering a land with that is not posted.
My understanding is you can enter non-agriculture land that is not posted without permission for “outdoor recreation”.
Whether this is ethical is another subject, but I think you can legally do it with respect to other laws (shooting near houses/livestock, etc)
It also says the only person who can give permission is the owner, occupant, or leesee.
You can read the whole thing Here. Page 12, 13 and 14.
December 24, 2008 at 8:17 pm #45964thanks guys I always assumed that you could get permission to hunt a property if it vacant or up for sale….
