Cool video Rob! I thought for a second there that he was going to run that post through his antlers! He would’ve had a heck of a time getting loose….although the post was pretty worked over!

    Thanks for sharing!

As worn down as that post is, he’s been using it for a while.

In using your scoring method from my post, (and this is really my first attempt at doing so), I get 125 for this deer. I got to 19 inches (5,7,4,3) on tine length on one side, and rate this deer as average in other categories.

    How did I do? Honestly?

I would say you did good. I would say a little closer to 130. Very cool vid. I wonder what kind of camera captured that footage and what one costs.

That is why I have this bald spot on my head. I do that every Friday night.

Man, that’s an awesome video! What a dandy buck! Truly amazing, I never seen a buck in action like that.

    Cougareye,

I put this guy right @ the 125-130 gross mark. I give him 19-20″ in Tine length. It is hard to tell as he never stops moving his head.

I put his Brows(G1) right at about 5″. His G2’s @ around 9-10″es and G3s right about 4-6″ depending on side. His spread is just about average 16-16.5″. His main beam could be a touch longer then 20″ although he is very tall but tight. Nicely done, however I’m not sure how you came up with 4th tine measurements??? It may be confusing because you actually do not count the last tine (in this case the 4th tine) as it is considered (calculated) on the main beam calculation. It is confusing but do you understand????

If that video does not get your blood pumping nothing will.

    Taken from the Vimeo Site:

A whitetail buck rubs his antlers on a favorite post during the rut.

The video was taken using two passive infrared (PIR) triggered camcorders set up to record from different angles simultaneously.
The main clip was recorded with a Sony TRV 65 camcorder triggered by a Wildtronix Cyclops PIR sensor control board and a Whitetail Supply 140 LED kit using 850 nm infrared LEDs was used for illumination.
A Pixcontroller DVReye kit using a 64 LED (850 nm infrared LEDs) camera with a 3.6 mm lens recording to a Neuros Recorder 2 obtained the smaller clip.

The individual clips were edited and merged together (picture-in-picture) using Quicktime Pro and converted to DivX prior to uploading.

Maybe his head was just really itchy?

    Rob:

That makes sense so it is not double counted. I did not give enough credit to those G2’s however.

Eric, just keep doing it, it will come. Not saying I’m right either, but I have been known to be pretty close most of the time.

A great way to practice is to score mounts of people then ask them what they scored. Or go to the Deer Classic and guess the score and then look. Real Tree videos use to give you the score at the end of their hunts. Not sure if they still do that??? But another great way to hone your scoring skill.
