I’ve taken tens of thousands of my own pics, and looked at many others’. I’ve seen lots of unique pictures, but these series is a little different. Bear with me, if they don’t come in right, I am trying to blow them up so yo can see them better. WTA

Obviously the blowing up part isn’t working very well. But if you look close inside the yellow circle, you can see what appears to be blood, on this doe, and some missing hair in that area.

look in the same spot on this pic, and look just above on the opposite side between the eye and nose, but on the body.

These pics, really show how tough deer are. Not that it stands a chance in hell of living through the winter, but still amazingly strong animals. By the looks the shooter was downhill of the animal, and the animal was slightly quartering to. That explains the blood I found under the snow, while changing the card on this camera. Never hunted this area during the season, now I wish I would have, and would have been able to help this animal.

Northern Wisconsin, did you lose one?

I am sure it is already wolf food.

No, just pure curiosity. I shot one shell all season, and she is in my freezer in 5 wrapped bags.

Things happen in the woods and we don’t know the story of this animal, but it makes a point to me how important it is to make the ethical and humane shot.

Pretty interesting pics WTA and even more is how amazing deer are at survival.

Just a side story… my buddy shot at a doe (quartering to) with a firearm and it was caught on film. After tracking it for awhile, they found the complete front leg of the doe and it was severed at the shoulder. Long story short, it got dark on them and they went back the next day, looked for several hours and never found it. He felt pretty bad about it and thought that the deer would not survive.

6 months later he was turkey hunting in the same area and to his amazement, out steps the 3 legged doe with 2 fawns! He also captured this on film. Pretty amazing how these animals can endure and survive injuries.

That is very hard to look at for me. Hate to see an animal suffer like that. I would’ve had to immediately delete them. Brad, that is a truly amazing story!

As hard as it is to look at, its part of hunting. We all have had or will have the time come when you do make that bad shot and wound an animal. I think its a good post, It makes me want to practice shooting my bow some more this year yet and make sure i get the rifle out to the range more next year.

I have never seen that much hair or flesh missing from a wound. I would bet that something, possibly a wolf or coyote got ahold of her after she was originally shot and tore that hide off.
