Good work Mike, how far down did you venture on Pool 2? I was going to post in the general forum if anyone had been over the 494 bridge lately and checked the status down there. Hope it stays open until I get back on the 27th.

We went over 494 and down town Saint Paul the other day. They both looked pretty locked in. Planning on checking them again this morning on the way to Red Wing.

494 is not good as of wednesday. And the thought occurred to Marty and I that a guy could spend hours busting the 494 ramp open and then find the wingdams unfishable. We need someone to do a scouting trip aroumd the airport. Any volunteers?

The river is froze over pretty much shore to shore at the airport. Just starting to show some signs of breaking up. Need a couple warm, windy days!

Glad you got out, Mike! Didn’t think it was possible!

Just talked to Mike. Looks like the city pulled the dock at 494 and broke the ramp open. He is putting in now. Go get em’….

Yep. had no problem getting the boat in at 494 today. There is a ledge to go over but I got a nice slop on it with the chisel and it worked just fine. Not sure how far down river the channel is open. It open at least half way to the refinery as that is as far I could see. Up river it is open to the red cones just south of the discharge. Doesnt look good for fishing the airport. Some good winds would knock it open.

Wish I had a better report about the fishing. Other than a few big carp there was nothing going. Tried jigging, pitching and dragging today. Just couldnt find any active fish. If I get out tomorrow its going to be the confluence or red wing.

Rutting Ridge Outfitters finally closed the door for the 2008 season. All that is left now is family hunting. We ended the season going 7 for 10. Every client had an opportunity at a 140″ or better. Hunter error and misplaced shots were the cause for not filling. Our last hunter was this guy from Door County. Adam harvested this buck in the first 5 minutes of the 2008 Gun season. Adam also had his chance during the bow season but recovery was unsuccesful…
