My Dad is over 70 now and having a lil harder time dealing with the cold due to his health conditions. So this year my brother Ron and I set out to make sure he could last in the woods and not get cold. So we decided to get a few enclosed stands for him to sit in. Along with the fact I had my 12 year old niece joining us as well this year at camp. A few people asked me to post a picture of the new enclosed stands we had this year. The Round one ended up costing a total of $625.00. We did not do much to this stand except for give it the base. I did not like this one as much as the other one as the view was not as good and the seating was ok. The other one “Nigey”, had some time was spent on it, but it is the cats meow and well worth every hour and $ spent. Basically it was a 4×4 fish house that we converted into a deer stand and man is it warm, comfy, easy to look out and shoot out of. This one costed us $480.00. We were worried about having my Dad sitting a few hours, now we can’t get him out of the stand to come and eat lunch with us. My Mom has even logged some time in the stand with my Dad this year.

We have plans on making a couple more for next year! Both of these stnads are made out of a hard plastic and will last a long time. I have since made another out of strictly wood that will end up costing me just over $250.00. These ar ebuilt solid and safely. ON the 4×4 Nigey we used “Elevators” to make a sturdy platform and would highly reccomend anyone buidling one do the same. Safety shoud be the #1 thought when building any sturcture that sits high off the ground.

Great job Lip! Way to keep dad in the game!

I’m in the process of building one myself, aptly named “The Man Shack”.

I’ll snap some picts next time I’m out there.

Rob, do you have that tied to a tree or do you take it down after the season? The round one has a pretty narrow base it looks like.

Very nice job, on the stands. Building an enclosed stand for that price….ice work

Nice looking stands! What camo pattern did you use for the stairs? It blends in so well! Good jobs guys in doing whatever it takes to keep dad “in the game” and comfortable!

That’s call Real Dorky. The Stenger brothers have a patent pending on it, so don’t get any ideas about copying it. However, I have heard Bill Jordan is in the process of suing to recover damages due to patent infringement.

Great job Rob of keeping the tradition alive.

Thanks Guys. Dart that was the objective to keep Dad Hunting and believe me it worked.

Scott, that “Stump” (circle stand)is loosely strapped to the tree and also anchored to the ground with wire on 2 sides. It is pretty stable actually, once the anchors were installed.

That one does have a nice deck off of it and believe me the Grill position was brought up

CLICK HERE to see the Elevators we used. We found the cheapest price @ Sportsman’s Warehouse or Fleet Farm. Kind of spendy, but when you look at what you are putting up there (Kids and Parents), well worth the piece of mind. These things make the platform like a tank.

My brother said my niece really liked the bottom of the “Stump” (circle stand) as she spent a few mornings sleeping down there.

one other thing to think of Lip, look at getting some insulation for the platform, makes moving around on the floor or moving your feet pretty much sound proof. I used some 2″ foam stuff on my floor and wall. you can also use some spray foam insulation as well. kind of expesive. also you might want to be sure to paint them when you start to see the wood showing through.

nice plans though, should keep him warm to get the job the done, now be sure he can find you or your bro to gut out the deer that he shoots from them.

Lip, I agree on the Elevator brackets they are rock solid.
We have put up a 5’X5′ and a 4’X4′ in the last 2 years with more to come. We have plywood sides and open tops. We built everything in the garage. Then we hauled it into the woods with a ATV for final assembly. SWEET system for sure!

The only problem is flipping them right side up in the woods after assembling them. I used a locking block & tackle in a tree and did one on my own. They work great for getting the kids out along with you.
