There were some spots that had 6″ of ice, most of the spots had 8″-9″ of ice. Have to use CAUTION when going out – We stop a few places on the way out to check ice thickness.
December 18, 2007 at 7:45 pm #634622Thanks for the update Craig!! How did your wheeler fair in the slush? Or did you take a sled?
December 18, 2007 at 9:29 pm #634666Took the Sled out, a couple of buddies had the 800 cc wheelers out, they were working hard to get through the snow and sometimes slushy areas. Sleds are the way to go.

November 15, 2008 at 5:15 pm #199999HI, IM Kaden Johnson and im 15 years old. I was a Member here but I Cannot Remember my name or password so I am on my Grandpas Account And im here to tell you about my first deer with a bow. I have been sticking it out Since opening day seeing many deer and nice bucks but never coming into range. In about mid October I shot a nice ten point he was chasing does and running every where so i could not get a shot. He went back in the woods and came back out into the field about ten minutes later i took a twenty yard shot and hit him. I felt like I made a good shot but I wasnt sure. I called my dad and he told me to get down and look for blood i found some. So I went home and came back out at dark it was a great blood trail feeling good about my shot and thinking I had this one Bagged. My luck ended the Blood trail just stoped. I did find my arrow and it was coated with blood but we never did find the deer. So November 14 I was sitting in my stand and saw a buck cross the field 5 minutes into the hunt. I did not see anything else for a couple of hours and then i saw four little bucks to my left in the woods and following them was a year and half old 8 pointer but he was big for his age. Now any other veteran hunter or hunter that has hunted longer than me would of passed it up but this was my first buck with a bow so I wasnt so picky…. I saw him when he was about 20 yards from me I had to pull my hands out of my pockets and grab my bow. Easier said than done with a weary deer in front of you but I managed to do it and i pulled my bow back when he was at 15 yards he stopped at ten yards broadside I shot and got him. I saw when the arrow hit the blood spewed out of him. I made a great shot. I got out of the stand and found blood right away and went back home to give him a while. My dad and my uncle and little cousin went to track him we didnt go 75 yards until I spotted him I was a Pretty happy hunter
