what is your favorite and most accurate muzzeloader? I currently have a Rossi and I am not very satisfied with the accuracy. Thanks for your input

I’m sure most people myself included will say the Thompson Pro Hunter. Depending on what state you hunt in and if smokeless powder is legal I would also recommend the Savage. Dont know the model but thety only make 1. For me the Savage is not really what muzzleloading is about, but if you want rifle accuracy and basically no cleaning then it is something to look at. I quess some might say that about the Pro Hunter as well.

Silverstreak sometimes it is as easy as adjusting your bullet weight and amout of powder you use. A longer barreled smokepole will give you better velocity and accuracy. There are a ton of things that will improve your accuracy with a ML so don’t be so quick to write it off as the gun. The hardest thing to do with a ML is to match your last shot exactly! If your barrel isn’t as clean as the last time you shot it will effect your accuracy. If your ram your charge to hard and break the pellet or mushroom it, the bullet will now be seated further down the barrel, that will effect your accuracy.

The list could go on and on, but being consistant and getting everything exactly the same as the last shot is the big thing with a ML.

As for your question I have a Knight and I have an Omega and I personally love the way my Omega shoots.

I currently own a TC OMEGA and like it alot, if I could go out and get the one I want right now it would be the new Encore Endeavor

The rossi I have now is a short barreled gun. I have shot as many as 50 rounds through this gun trying sight it in. I have tried cleaning every shot and as many as every seventh shot. The accuracy is about like shooting a garbage can at 100 yards. As far as setting the sabot I think I have done it consistantly but I guess I maybe haven”t always been perfect. The only deer i have shot with this gun i hit in the windpipe at 125 yards and found it 300 yards away . I was just wondering if there are more accurate guns out there. From the responses I’ve seen there are many options.

I shoot an American Knight. It is a cheapo, but boy does it shoot. I have a 3-9×40 scope on it. I have witnesses to a cloverlead 3 shot group at 200 yards. This was shot off of a rest, I certainly could not do that off hand. Anyways, it only has a 22 inch barrel. The stock trigger is really pretty good, I have not modified it and I do modify most triggers. Anyways, I have been looking to upgrade to a Knight Vision, it is ugly, but has a 26 inch barrel so I can shoot a heavier load. It also has a closed breach system so the hammer should never freeze in an ice storm. All Knight rifles have Green Mountain barrels which are renouned for their quality and accuracy. Worth a look IMO. I like the quality of Thompson Center, but I do not want an exposed hammer if I upgrade. CVA also has many decent guns.

I don’t think you can go wrong with a Knight or a TC. There are lots of good guns out there though.

I shoot one of the first Knight Revolutions made and I really love this gun. The downside is cleaning kind of sucks compared to the TC line.

If I had to pick a replacement right now, TC Endeavor! Two reason, new breech plug design and interchangeable barrels!

Good luck shopping and let us know what you get!

Also, I would get stainless if you can afford it, Black Powder is hard on everything. Plus with stainless you can actually see what’s dirty.

I would advise against a CVA. I knew that they had problems in the past, but bought one 3 years ago after a rep assured me that they were past the problems. NOT.

The third day out of the box, as I walked to my stand, the front sight fell off. Then the sling almost fell off. It shoots ok, but I’d never buy another one. Oh, and their customer service…pathetic.

I have owned several brands over the years. In my opion the Thompson Center line is the way to go. I have owned both the Encore and the omega. For me the Omega just felt better and came up better. For the value I’d say it would be hard to beat the Thompson Center Omega.

I just bought an TC Omega with the thumb hole grip. Feels great shooting, and cleaning is a breeze.

I have no other experiences to compare models. I posted this same question a month or so back and off of the responses this is what I went with.

But there is a $50 mail in rebate on Thomson Centers site if you buy an icon, encore pro hunter, encore endeavor, or omega through december 31st, and you get a real nice free knife as well.

I have a Knight KRB7 and like it. It shoots nice and being left handed I like the hammer design. It pretty much has a double safety which makes me very comfortable. I have used it in pouring rain and lots of sleet/snow with no problems what so ever. Knights customer service is awesome in my opinion. I had a revolution that I had problems with from the get go and they were extremely helpful and very quick with correcting my problem. That was my main reason for sticking with them for my second in-line purchase. TC is a great choice also, the rest of my family shoot them and they have no complaints.
