What Infared Trail Camera to buy?

I was recently looking for a camera on Cabelas.com and was very discouraged by the number of bad reviews on every single camera brand. I have two older flash Moultries and an IR stealth. I’m looking to buy another camera, this time a top notch infrared. Trigger speed and picture quality are my top concerns along with something that doesn’t spook game. I have noticed a lot of the IR cameras still emitt the red lights which I have found to sometimes spook deer as much as a white flash.

It seems there are a lot of problems all around with the infrared cameras. There is no clear choice. I thought the Cuddeback would be the easy choice, but after reading reviews I have been leaning towards one of the Moultrie IRs. I am however not pleased with my current Moultrie cameras trigger speeds, especially at night and I know that cuddeback is renouned for their trigger speed.

I’m just sick of missing deer, getting poor pictures of bucks, or just getting one decent picture and the rest blanks when on burst mode with my Moultries and I am certainly frustrated with the white-outs I get on my Stealth IR.

Any thoughts? Maybe I should just buy three cheaper white flash cameras instead of one top of the line camera? What should I buy?

Reconyx…. They make a very solid camera, ultra faster trigger and good picture quality. Not to mention battery life is nearly unbeatable. Worth checking out-

I have a Moultrie I40. It takes great pictures and the batteries are still at 75% after being used since late summer until now. You can get one for around $200 maybe less if you go on ebay. Definately a great camera for the price!

I have 3 Moultrie I40s and like them. However, Mark Johnson is right – hands down the Reconyx is the best trail camera on the market! But it’s also around $550-$600.

Reconyx is an awesome camera I love mine. You are right they are expensive. One that I was interested in was the Scoutguard. I don’t know much about them but the reviews look good. The price is right $200.00. I don’t know anyone that has one. Google scoutguard and check it out.
