Had a chance to Bow Hunt in the North Metro Area on Sunday 11/09/08. Being a north-northwest wind, I knew which stand I could hunt. I got in my tree stand at 2:00, I started to range different tree’s to determine shooting distance. Around 2:45p.m., I saw movement behind a huge oak tree. I slowly turned around to see this 10 pointer making his way up the draw. He ended up heading to the left of me to a scrape, about 80 yards out. I decided to use a “can call” of a doe, no response? Next, I grabbed the grunt call and softly grunted in his direction. He just stood there, trying to home-in on the location of the sound. I grunted at him again, using clucks and a louder, more aggresive grunt. He was on the move, right at me. He ended up closing the 80 yards within seconds. The next thing I see him is right below me, licking a branch. I can’t shoot him through the stand, so I let him get out about 18 yards and sailed an arrow right thru him. My best Mn Bow Buck!
