Where’s everyone headed and what are they after???

Where’s everyone going this weekend for opener gun, and what special deer are they after??

For me, I’m skipping the MN Gun season for the first time in 12 years, and I’m gonna bowhunt the rut in WI instead. I got my eyes on two deer this weekend, one is a 140″ 8 pointer, and the other is a 155-160″ 10pt. These two guys have been primarily nocturnal almost all year, so hopefully they will start to show themselves within the next few days.

I’m headed back to Trempeleau tonight for 3 or 4 days of bowhunting. With this cooler weather, I think its going to be an awesome weekend to get the big boys up and moving during daylight hours. I won’t be taking a shot at anything younger than a 3.5 year old.
I’m so fricken pumped to get out I can barely contain myself. I need to lay the down on a brute after the last few years of botched attempts

Heading across the river to MN. Shot a buck on sept 24th in WI and have been tortured by everybody’s rut stories so am anxious to get back out there with the chance to get a big one. Good luck to all.

The Pic is the big boy I am holding out for hopefully he will show him self so I can put the hammer down.

Heading to my cousins (My moms home place) in Spring Hill, I will only take a wall mounter buck for myself. Lottery area, so if my cousins and others want help, sunday I will take does if they want me to. Next 2 weekends, its up to the cabin at Mille Lacs, to continue the wall mounter quest

My son was going with me for the frist time this weekend but he got sick a few days ago and Mom and the Dr. send it was a no go this weekend . I will have to wait until next weekend to let him pick on a doe or two.

Hunting locally with a first time hunter (nephew) sitting with me. Hoping for any deer to offer a standing shot for him. If he tags one, anything with 3″ of polished bone is fair game for me.

As my Posse is currently driving north to hunt near Menagha and Park Rapids, I am awaiting the arrival of my first born at home. I have a plan that involves deer hunting an island up a river on public land. The island is only accesible by boat or an excursion across knee deep water and I don’t think anyone else will take this approach I am hoping it pans out. I am breaking out the smoke pole for the weekend as my shotguns only like to shoot steel.

I will also have decoys and waterfowl gear in the truck if there is fowl flying in the area and I’d be inclined to switch up my quarry.
