This is a great deal!! I use Okumas on my open water stuff and love them.

I have an older heavy climbing stand that I love to hunt out of. My question is what other stands (climbers) do you guys have good luck with that might be a bit lighter?

I think Lone Wolf is about as light as they come in a climber. I have the sit and climb and like it. But use my fixed position stands the most.

I have the Grand Slam Bowhunter and like that it is open in the front. It is lite but a little bulky. It is very comfortable and have sat in it all day with no problems. Here is a pic.

I have a Summit Viper that is extremely comfortable. Prior to that I had an Ol’Man. The summit climbs awesome while the Ol’Man stunk. I hate setting climbers up though. For some reason I struggle with it and because of that I haven’t used mine in a few years.

The Viper is one that I was looking at, how is it hard to set up?

Well thinking about it in my head it is easy. But making my hands do what is to be done there seems to be a disconnect. Unhook a pin and the strap and put it around a tree. Do that again with the platform and up you go. I am the only one I know who has trouble and it irritates me. The biggest problem is that I have never taken the time to practice and insist that I’ll know how to do it once every four years. Please don’t let my ineptness keep you from owning a wonderful stand! I’ve slept in my Viper after adjusting the seat low and was completely comfy and secure. Woke up and saw a doe peering in my direction and seemed to be sticking her tongue out at me so I had no choice but to wipe the sleep from my eyes, shoot, and drag her home.

I bought my first climber (a viper) this year and I turned 50, so a spring chicken I’m not. It is the only one I’ve ever used, so keep that in mind. I can’t imagine anything better!! I was worried about the bar in front, but it’s great for resting your bow on, or leaning on while watching towards the tree. Very easy to backpack in, I carry my back pack on the front and the climber on my back and have hiked 1/2 mile in without a problem. Easy to climb and quiet. Highly recommended.

Ditto on the Viper, I love mine and have found it much easier to set up than other models.

See, Casey “can” sit still, just put a duck in his mouth and pull out a camera!!!
