    Thanks Steve!

This is my PB! This just happens to be the date my grandpa died 2 years ago. I the last thing I asked him was to send some great buck my way.

I have some great trail cam pics of this buck. The funny thing is they are all at night untill the season started

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to shoot this buck but I think my time is limited this season trying to get my new house in order so I can live in it.

Well, on to the story. I hunted opening morning and this last past weds. I seem to have some good luck going on. Well it all started I was heading to the house to do a few things. I thought well tonight is a good night to be in the woods(turned out right). So I made my way through the woods down a new trail I cut to a back food plot. I have been seeing lots of track on this food plot but both of the ones I made have tons of tracks. I checked the camera on the way out it was about 6:00pm or so( I was getting to the stand way to late I know)the camera showed this buck had shown up the day before. I was excited to see all the deer using this plot. I just got into the stand nocked my arrow and sat down. To my surprise I heard something walking through the tall grass and then I seen the legs walk into the food plot. It was a big big doe right as she walked out I was looking for my range finder. This is when I realized I had forgot my range finder in the car. I was dissapointed for sure I had no idea how far it is to anything on the food plot. I can only make quesses. She happened to walk right buy me. It is a neat feeling to just watch then out in the woods. She ate and passed down the food plot to the trail I walked in on. Yes not busted!!! Then at about 7:20 I heard the same thing I looked to my right and seen a head and horns. The buck took the same path as the down in the tall grass and made its was around the pine tree into the food plot. At this point I was unsure I was going to shoot. Then it started to walk the same path as the doe(yes an easy shot). This is went I made up my mind and I was going to try for this deer. Well lucky me it turn and walked to the far side of the plot towards a ceder tree 20(?) yards I thought to myself. I drew back and for some reason I couldn’t get squared up. I didn’t panic. I was gonna try to stop the buck but I thought to myself what if it stops behind the ceder tree I will get busted. So I waited till it got to the other side of the food plot. I followed the buck full draw till it stopped but the bad part is that it stopped infront of a 3″ branch off of the tree I am sitting in. So i waited full draw. It put its head down feed, then i let the arrow go back to rest. Instantly it started to walk again away from me.Back to full draw at this point I am getting tired. I thought it was over but I kept drawn back hoping. Right at the end of my food plot it turned and gave me a broad side shot. I got ready and then it took two steps and faced me.I finally took a couple of steps back the same direction I made the best quess 35 yards. He turned alittle bit more for just about a quadering away shot. Then I pulled the trigger and dead on 35 yards. It was not a pass through but a double lung shot. He ran about 25-30 yards and dropped. I didn’t get to see that so I went to the house and waited for an hour. Went back out and my heart couldn’t be more happier.

I am very proud of this buck I did range find the spot I shot him and it turned out to be 35.5 yards.

    I am so happy
    good luck to you

I wish I would have joined a team but I didn’t think I would get out much this season. Now I wish I would have joined.

    Is it still too late?
