What do you do when Nature Calls?

Ok, guys. I have heard both sides of the story on this one and being anal about scent like I am, I tend to be on the side of caution. But what do you guys do when you need to take a leak?

I abstain from liquids as much as possible prior to going into the stand. But on all day or long sits require for me to relieve my self sometime. So I usually time it around 2 pm and get down for a quick bite to eat, take a bathroom break or 3 and then get back in. But sometimes you just need to go. I have heard it makes no difference as deer are curious and actually will sniff the urine and not become alarmed and sometimes actually come in closer to investigate. I have aslo heard they dislike it, etc. I have never tried it, but I’m curious to what others do or more importantly what they observed from doing this in the stand?????

    What do you guys do?:

I do what you do Lip, at a scheduled break. If I am all day in the stand and have to go, I have been known to whiz off the stand, in fact I have shot deer after doing this so…….

I’ve always opted for the plastic bottle, but after finding out last week that I forgot to empty one from my last hunt in December, and tainting everything in my pack , I think im gonna switch my approach.

I rarely deer hunt. But here’s my .02. When in the golf buisness we had a number of Greens that were frequented by the local heard. They would dance and prance all over the greens. They made a huge mess too say the least. Here’s what we found.

A good pee once a week kept them away! All we needed too do was pee in one spot near the putting surface and all was taken care of. So…. if I was serious about deer hunting there would always be a bottle with my gear.

i personally try to hold it. I know in the morning if i have had a lot of coffee, my pee smells like coffee it’s actually gross and i don’t know if a deer would come to this or not….but on a PM sit, i might pee out of the stand because of food and other beverages that may change the smell

I use a bottle and everyone else I’ve talked to uses one too. I figure if humans put them on aleart then im not going to add to it and get thier caution up.

well I am going to make a doe pee urine creamer for my coffee then….

in all seriousness I will hold it as long as I can but when I need to go I will use a plastic bottle in the am but often use the ground in the pm and then cover it with dirt and a cover scent

I hav THIS before and was very happy with it. It is bio-degradable if left in the woods. It also turns the liquid into a gel type so it doesnt spill. Can be used 2 to 3 times.

    Just my .02

i don’t think holding it is a good idea, the last thing you want is to be doing the “potty dance” while on stand. i pee when i have to pee.

I’m a bottle guy but don’t seem to sit long enough where I need it. But I do have a buddy that DOES pee in scrapes and he says bucks go bonkers! I’ve always told him that he’s nuts and this cannot be true! I guess there may be something to that???

I never sit all day so I don’t need to. When I sit for extended periods of time, I hold it. Basically, if you don’t drink to much before you get to the stand you should be able to hold it for several hours.

ok, I noticed no women have replied to this one, so I’m going to reply. If I have to go, I just go where I want to attract the deer. I think women attract the deer in different ways then a guy would (if you know what I mean). If you have a girlfriend or a wife, you do. I’ve had good luck with it. Sorry if it sounds gross.

I always carry latex gloves with. I pee in the glove and tie it off. Then put it on my buddies stand!

Itry not to do anything that Icant proove either way if it is going to hurt my chances or not, Some deer it may not bother and others it may? I have often wondered though , And kind of doubt that they can, Tell the difference from one meat eater urine smell to another ,I dont think they would pay any more attention to it then a coyote, or up in your neck of the woods a wolf.
