by now many of you have probably seen the pictures I’ve been getting of a nice little group of bucks, well I’m seeing much less of them now. There is a small apple tree that can be seen in the pictures but with all the deer, groundhogs, and coons the apples are gone already. The deer still come through because of the funnel but they don’t stop anymore. I thought about putting something out to keep them interested in sticking around a little but I’m not really sure what to use or how to go about it. I know I won’t be able to keep it going into hunting season but I thought if I can keep them coming around regularly until a week or so before the opener it will help my chances of seeing one of them.

I have been considering buying apples and putting them out every couple of days (I have a somewhat unique situation in that these are almost urban deer and are very used to human scent being in this particular spot so I’m not too worried about going out twice a week) or a friend offered to let me use his corn feeder with a photocell so that it spreads for 5 seconds every day at sunrise.

    thoughts, hints, suggestions?????

This year I’m trying “Ripe-N-Apple Infuzed” from Wild Game Innovations (www.wildgameinnovations.com). So far, the same deer are showing up on the trail cam day after day. I don’t get to my property too often, so to get them coming through and to keep em coming, it looked promising. Supposed to last up to 5 weeks…..
In MN we aren’t allowed to hunt over bait, and I don’t know that I would any way. With this being considered a “mineral” attractant and only $15, I thought I’d give it a try. It or something similar might work in your situation.

If it is a travel corridor I wouldn’t be to worried about it. They will still travel it and IMO you have less chance of spooking them if they just travel through the area.

However, budaman has a good idea. A mineral lick or sorts would slow them down a lil.

Deer cane has worked wonders for us…never believed in the stuff till the last 2 years when were getting giant holes up to a foot or more deer in the areas we placed it. The spots still get hit even if we have not applied it for a year or more!
