Night Deer

Being new to hunting this might be a silly question but I’ll ask anyway. I’m getting pictures of a nice buck every other day or so (see the “indiana trail cam pics” thread) but he’s only coming through at night. Usually between 23:00 and 02:30 with the earliest I’ve ever seen him being 6:50 but it was on a night that we had some rain coming in so it was already pretty dark. What do you think the odds are of me seeing this guy during daylight once the season opens? Is there anything I can do to help my odds?
I think my biggest problem is going to be that I don’t have a great deal of visibility from where I will be. Since I’m a very new bow hunter I’ve set up in a spot where I really only have 30 yards of visibility. It’s at a very nice funnel and every deer around has to come through my little “corner” to get from the woods to the corn across the way and I know that any deer that comes into view is in shooting range. Nice little set up for me really but my worry is that if I try to grunt or rattle him in, I won’t be able to see him until he’s right on me and I run the chance of spooking him with an ill-timed grunt or rattle. Am I just being paranoid or is this a legit concern?

Thanks in advance for the help

I’ve also got one of those “heat activated” drips that I was going to put up as soon as I started seeing scrapes and rubs. Do you think it will help?

When we get closer to the rut I would say your odds will improve of seeing him during daylight hours. As for only being able to see 30 yards in any direction you will just have to take your chances and stay on extra ready alert while on stand, sounds like an awesome spot. As for the drip it could not hurt but I would only hang it when you are hunting do not leave it there 24/7 it will do you no good if a deer shows up when you are not there, be sure to ware latex gloves when handling the drip to minimize your scent.
