This is a longshot, but thought I would try. I am looking for information on a deer my grandpa shot many years ago. The story as told to me goes as follows. He was hunting in what he called McDonalds Camp (a logging camp north of Giese, west of Magrath. I think it’s in the Salina State Forest) He shot a “big buck”. He said a young kid there had shot a young deer. The kid was admiring his deer, and said he sure wished he could get one like that. Grandpa said I didn’t want to chew on that deer all winter, so he traded deer with him. Grandpa was sure he got the better deal. He always said “You can’t eat the horns”
When I would ask him how big the buck was, he would just say it was big. He never cared, so he didn’ remember. I am not tring to get the deer it it still exhists. I just want to see a picture of it. If anyone out there has a grandpa, father, uncle, etc who may have hunted there I would love to here from them. I wish I had a year or other info, but that is all I have. Thanks for reading this.
