The Dnr here has added a late season of three days to cull more does becaue the harvest report from shotgun hunters told the dnr that there wasen’t enough does culled. The shotgun hunters plus the black powder hunters can hunt those three days, the 11th, 12th and 13th of Janurary. Then theres aanother late antlerless season that runs from the 11th to the 27th of janurary, this is for antlerless only. I’ve got two tags to fill, my eighter sex with blackpowder and the other tag for a culling doe. I’ll get two does and maybe if I see a really big buck I will take him with blackpowder but he has to be big befor I’ll take him. Bow season here also closes ther 10th of Janurary with no late season for does that I know of. The season will be completely over here the 27th of Janurary for all deer.

Robby in the quad cities has 4 tags left to fill with his blackpowder and I have two. When it comes to the contest with me being in it I won’t shoot a buck unless hes atleast a 180″ so ending the contest dosen’t matter to me. I’ll get pictures up of the two does and a buck if I get a shot at a nice one after the contest closes. When it comes to points the deer I shoot won’t matter in choosing a winning team and closeing the contest. Good luck to the guys who still have tags.

I am going to head out this weekend again, I let a 3×1 youngster walk last weekend. Here is a good question that ran through my mind this morning. What if I were to have a brain fart out in the woods and shoot a nice big doe, which just happened to be a buck that had already shed his horns . Now, don’t chastise me here just a question . Whould that deer be tagged as an antlerless deer? Apparently, I have too much time on my hands driving around in the mornings, between jobsites.

Yes it would be tagged as an antlerless deer.

I’m still geared up for the last MN weekend of bowhunting. My buck tag is still open and i have got a few photos of a wallhanger still running around since the gun seasons ended.

My season ended when the Herd management season was over. Doesn’t look like I’ll make late season bow hunting! Getting fired up for the turkey season this spring. The wife is going to give it another try this spring!

My season in a nutshell () Not even close to giving up yet. This year I let some good bucks go hoping to be rewarded with a giant, well my time and patience is almost up.

I haven’t seen a hair the last two times out. 3 more days to go. Weather looks good and fresh snow to see new tracks. Good luck everyone.

went out today for the 1st time in Whitewater. it’s something new and a big challange. i like to be able to glass the ridges when driving around and my partner in crime spied a small buck. all in all pretty slow and not really worth the 3-4 hour drive. we’ll be out again 1st thing tomorrow a.m. looking to pull back on the bow one last time till next season. good luck to everyone sticking it out

Well the deer won this round. Spent 3 hours in the tree yesterday and only saw 6 squirrels and 2 bunnies. Had snow flakes and a peak of sunshine and then the wind came up just before dark. I was chilled when I climbed down and I wished Mr. 10pt a safe winter. We have a date to meet next fall. Time to hang up the bow and get the ice fishing gear out. But it was a beautiful year. Saw some nice bucks. Put a MN doe in the freezer as well as a small WI buck. Got my son out for his first WI gun hunt. Life is good. Happy New year to you all.
