my buddy stopped by this am with the antlers from the booner his brother shot on day 2 of gun deer season. They have a great group of trail cam pics from full velvet to two weeks ago, he just finally showed himself when they had a gun. A great buck anywhere

How come the skull is already bleached out looks to me like it was shot longer ago than that. That is a giant What did it score?

the second day of gun deer was the 18th–thats 9 days ago, plenty of time to get it cleaned i would rattle off the score, but that may not sound right either

That buck had some serious tine length

Yep, it doesn’t take long to get a skull cleaned up
Is it going to be a head mount or a Euro? From the pic, I can’t tell if the full skull is there or not.
The bucks I have had mounted, I was able to get a clean skull plate along with the rack in a few days.

Great looking buck! Encourage your buddy and his brother who shot it to post a story along with those game trail pics!

I boil mine in salt water, and in no time they look like that.

I did a rough score just from the photo and came up with around 180-185″ gross…….that’s huge!!! I hope you can get a score and the story for us on this one!!

Waterfowler – If that’s the buck I think it is, my friend has both sheds from last year. He was a big 9: 5 on the right and 4 on the left with no split brows.? 183?

Alot of people, with a deer this size, will cape it out, send the hide out for tanning, and euro it, until the cape comes back. Then just cut the rack and finish a full shoulder mount.

If you leave the antlers attached to the skull as they are, its better for scoring. Less shrinkage in the spread. Maybe only an 1/8 or two but what the hey.

Who knows his reasoning but that could be it.

So after the offical drting period and an official score than yhey can cut the rack out and mount it.

What did you do with your booner? Did I miss a picture somewhere? Let the man be. He shot a hell of a buck and wanted to have this done. It doesn’t matter why.

This is the kind of crap that keeps my pictures off the boards.

My post may have come off the wrong way. A booner to most people is a deer of a lifetime. I was just suprised to see it on a scull mount that’s all. Notice I did compliment his horns.

As long as it was legal, that is a great deer regardless of when it was taken, how long ago it was taken, or how it was cleaned. A real trophy, I would love to see the trail cam pics.

I must have really, really, really, really, thick skin. What somebody posts on here, I will not lose sleep over… I am an optimist. If I read something negative, I am thankful I am not going through life that way

ya, I think writing words on here can be interpreted so many ways unless you use all the little goof ball symbols to show emotion. But either way some people take way too much offense to some things written. I’m sure I’m even guilty of it at times. More than anything I just like to throw bs flags.

I agree with Eric. Keep it intact until the final score is done!

    Very nice buck!

That is HUGE! Waterfowler…does he have pictures of the entire deer and not just the horns? I would like to see what he looked like before they dressed him out. Those G2’s are very impressive!
