I don’t know or understand what license a person needs to hunt the muzzle loader season in MN. My son has an archery license and shot gun but what does he need if he wants to hunt the upcoming muzzle season? He is planning to purchase a T/C Triumph tonight but I don’t know if he needs to upgrade his licesne or is he out of luck for this year. He is 13 so at that age he can gun hunt the various seasons.

go to a place that sells liscense and tell them u want to up grade him to a all season license, you will just pay the difference i think is the cheapest way to do it, plus i believe they will give u two more doe tags.

Can you buy the muzzleloader license / upgrade to the all-season if you tagged a buck during the rifle season?

That’s a good question….he hasn’t taken a buck yet but I will see what they say about that.

I tried that one year and being I had two previous licenses id would error out. You need to call the bureau and make sure they cancel one out first, do it before Thankgiving break as I missed opening w-end then. They told me to send my archery tag in and they would refund me. PM me for ???? Sorrry in a hurry!

I called the license bureau and their first question was “Has he filled a tag?” I said no so they said just go to an agent and they can upgrade him. I asked about cancelling first since he also has the archery and she said that shoudln’t be a problem the agent should know how to do it. We will see how it goes tonight.

The rest of the story in case anyone wants to know……..

Went to the local ELS agent, they upgraded to the all season and gave us new tags which included two does tags. We had to turn in the old tags….paid the difference and we were on our way. Now we need to learn how to shoot the new gun…..that will come this afternoon.

You will love Muzzle loader hunting it is very addicting. I will be sighting mine in today at the Rochester Sportsmen Club but it will not be until after 3:30 as I work until 3. If you want to make the drive I would be more than happy to help get you started.

Sorry I missed your offer Steve. It would have been helpful to learn from someone with experience. The T/C Triumph was right on target out of the box. I hope we get to use it one a 4 legged animal on Saturday!!

    Good luck to you!

You’ll find hunting with a muzzleloader is about as addictive as it gets. I carry my Encore during the first Deer season. During that season I use a scope mounted on the Leupold Quick Release Base.

That set up is perfect for me. I’ve never had to adjust the scope in all the years I’ve had it.

Best of luck to you. From everything I’ve read and seen about the new Triumph, you’ll love it. One of the members in our group has it. It’s avery nice gun.
