Oh my gosh, how strange is it that last night I was going through some of my Mom’s photos and looked at a bunch of photos of John and Adeline, along with their children. You see, Adeline was my Mom’s aunt. I had no idea this accident happened. Prayers are sent to your family and the Grantner family. Such a sweet woman and she will be missed by our family. At least she and John are back together.

So it was the last night of gun season in NW Minnesota, I got down out of my stand and walked across the food plot I was hunting and headed to my atv on the other side. I wasn’t trying to sneak there either… I mean it was the last night and it was dark.
Well I get to my atv and unzip my case to put my gun in and hear a crashing behind me…figures I thought that I haven’t seen anything all day and spook one up near my atv but as I turned expecting to see a tail I thought I saw the figure of a deer about 40 yards away through the brush…so I unzipped the gun case again to look through my scope and just check it out..the gun is unloaded at this point mind you because it is already dark thirty…and right after the zipper stops the deer came running towards me…and I heard a grunt! this little buck came running by me at 5 yards! and stopped at 15 and stood broadside and just looked at me. it seemed as though it was taunting me as that I couldn’t do anything about it anymore…he was too small to shoot anyways but I mean come on they dont have to rub it in our face! haha I guess my dad and I got a little redemtion considering my dad knocked down a doe that night.

Isn’t that the way it is! Usually I’ll get the gun packed in the truck and start driving down the road and they will be standing there on the edge of the road… at me! I know there are some people that wouldn’t have had the will power you did to not shoot that deer and you should be commended for that! Frustration makes some poeple do stupid things…especially if you hadn’t seen anything all day on stand! Nice job!

Just about the same thing happened to me this year!

It was about 5 minutes before dark on Sunday, and I was standing along a trail getting ready to walk out of the woods. Wouldn’t you know it, but I hear a grunt coming down the trail, around a corner. It happened to be a buck fawn trotting right toward me grunting with every step. I tell you, it was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in the woods. This guy was chasing two other fawns that had came through about 15 minutes earlier. As soon as he saw me, he stopped in his tracks, turned around slowly and went back the way he came.
