A while back Steve made a post reguarding floating a river for deer. I snapped this pick of a father son team doing just that from my portable in NW MN. These two slipped along without making a sound, never heard them sound out a shot in my near proximity. Other pics are just the other views from my stand.

that would be a blast. but you gotta think it’s very possible to tip when shooting/excitement is going on.

Or even when there is no shooting or excitement.

So when floating a river for deer hunting, where do you shoot the deer? Only if you catch one crossing a river? I’ve seen guys do it where I hunt and swore if that shot onto the private property I was hunting they’d be getting a tresspassing ticket. Kind of a sore subject for me and some others. Not sure what the protocal is.

My guess is that river runs through large tracts of state land and they can shoot when they are on areas of state property.
