Big Buck pics

    Thought I’d post a few pics of the VERY NICE Buck I shot this morning in Pope Co, MN…

    Too late tonight for full report, but will add a hunting summary, hopefully tomorrow…

    Any queses on it’s gross score and net score, I will put up the Green score in a day or two…

    Bases were 6 inches each.

    It’s by far the biggest bodied deer (225 pounds, scale weighed), and largest rack I’ve every shot. I’m still in a state of shock over the whole thing.

    Well Jack, just because mass goes a loooong way in adding inches to a deers rack, I’d have to say that this deer is going to gross 164″ and net around 156″. DANDY no matter what it scores!! Congrats

    Your in shock over it? Heck, I started shaking just looking at it!

    I’d guess it will net 160 after a near 170 gross. I base that on nothing more than an uneducated guess though.

    I think big G has a very good guess at 138 gross. At first I thought that was too low, but after looking at all the pics I’m going to say.
    Gross 139 2/8
    Net 135 4/8

    Jack,
    After seeing the head and rack of this deer 1st hand, it is truly a massive head and rack.. Can’t get your hand around the base. Maybe 2/3rds of the way. Heavy heavy rack. It’s a wonder this guy wasn’t dragging his head on the ground all the time. Congrats on a great trophy. Dave

    There were a few pretty good quesses, I did a Green Score this morning, and here is what I came up with…

    the main beams were 26 2/8 and 26 0/8

    and bases of 5 6/8 and 6 0/8

    inside spread of 19 5/8

    right side antler total 73 0/8

    left side antler total 69 2/8

    3 non-typ pts of 1 1/8, 1 1/8, and 4 5/8= 6 7/8

    total side to side dis-symetry 5 6/8

    total Gross score is 161 7/8 (spread+left and rt sides)

    total NET Score is 149 2/8 (less disym and non-typ pts)

    It will make the next MN Classic State Record Book as a Typical, and just misses by 2 inches also qualifying as a Non-typical (can’t enter book both ways)

    Am still in dis-belief, but it is starting to sink IN…
