Get the talk yet?

Every year around this time (last weekend of October) I get the talk from the wife about hunting all the time and not spending any time with her, etc. It never fails, same talk within 3 days of each other for the last 10 years. Every year I remind her that we had the same talk last year on this exact day but that never helps

I will be the first to admit I am gone all the time hunting and fishing, but the timing of this talk is a true sign the rut is just around the corner so I can live with it

    Anyone else?

    Not me….

The only talk I have been getting, is from my professors- “Luke, will we see you in class ever again?!”

    Maybe if it’s raining…

Ask Coppertop about that talk …I thank God my wife allows me the time to go and play in the woods and on the water…It does help she phesant hunts, turkey hunts and fishes with me now and then. I always make sure to take one night a week out of bow season and do something with her instead of being in the stand…She supports my quest each year for the big boy and always is willing to track the deer and TRY to take photos… Plus you have to agree its better then being in the bar like many guys

hilarious!!! I got the talk last night (as I do every year between fishing and hunting season) she’s already trying to put the kabosh on ice fishing and it hasn’t even started!!! I already had to give up duck hunting, what more does that woman want?!?!?!

The only ‘talk’ I get from my wife is “When do I get to come with?”

Every year, I respond with the “As soon as you find a sitter for the kids” answer.

After 11 years I know how to avoid “the talk”. Right now I’d like nothing more than heading to Mille Lacs to fish at night, but after last weeks 5 days in ND, I know I’ll get the talk.
I also have the opportunity to see the Vikes-Pack game at Lambeau in a suite, problem is that deer/gun starts the next weekend! Asking for both will bring on the aforementioned discussion.

I’m not complaining though, I have it better than many I know!

I tend to get the same talk around fishing opener. St. Croix followed by the WI, by the MN. That’s a tough three week stretch and I’m lucky to scratch out two of them.

HMMMM, Yeah, My GF started a calander this year marking each and everyday with a H for hunting so she can look back and say how much I’ve been hunting. Seriously, I’m reconsidering my relationship. I see it like this, it’s only for a few hours each morning and evening and one would think she’d be happy I have a hobby that I’m truly passionate about and doing it makes me a much happier person. Don’t get me wrong I do spend alot of time with her she’s just peeved that when I’m not hunting I’m either on the phone talking to friends about it, preparing for it and oh yeah, she hates the fact that I spend so much time on IDA. OK enough whining, Scott I feel your pain! What’s a guy to do when tonight could always be THEE night!

I will be married 15 years in May. She already knows whats up, come September. She knows “the talk” got her no where when we were dating, and has come to accept, I will be hunting and getting ready for hunting, mid-sept through the end of the year. Don’t get me wrong, I still get “the look” every once in awhile, but who doesn’t ???

You guys are killing me. This is why I didn’t get married until we lived together for 5 years. Since when is it the man of the house’s responsibility to entertain the women? putting food on the table is in our genes. Any female that tries to change this is not mature enough for marriage. Mine gets Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and any day where weather is too rough to do something I had to buy a license for. Oh an Phishrman, I got a sweet duck boat, your lady she up at 5:30?

After being in Canada waterfowling for 7 days just over a week ago and leaving in a few min for a pheasant trip, I expect the talk when I get back. In October I have hunted or fished 15 days and have done both in the same day once. I am also working the 2pm-midnight shift and that sure is not helping things. But, she knew what she was getting into when we got hitched. I love her for it

WHERE THE HECK IS THE DOG, WE HAVE TO GO

You give her Thansgiving That is one of the most cherished pheasant hunting days around. The wife tried to convince me to go to the IL for Thansgiving the first year we were married. I told her not a problem, you can go

Hey Scott and everyone else- I am not a hunter so I am OK there but fishing and the cabin (since I met my birth father), are the greatest. My wife has been a scrap booker and a stamper (for those who might not know, card making), I have learned to get her involved in these endeavors, BIG TIME, I also encourage her to go every week night she possibly can. For those of you who have kids try it. I let her know, go out and have a great time, I will take care of the kids, put em to bed, read em books, say the prayers, etc….. Then when the need to take off comes up you got your leverage (if you know what I mean) I have never fished more or spent more weekends at the cabin in my life since installing the you can do what ever you want rule, weekdays only. Trust me I have had the talk that Scott and all of you are talking about, and I don’t even hunt. Try the give and take as much as possible and you can’t lose, at least most of the time.
