I thought I would start a post so we could all share our preseason rituals for getting preped for the season.

DNR advise, get your license early.

    Get License early

#1 thing that comes to mind for me is, start getting your clothes washed NOW. De-scent them now and get them in scent proof bags. Sucks to be the night before leaving and want to wash your stuff, and the wife explains that she has to do some work laundy for the next day. Not that it ever happened to me.

As a gunsmith, the biggest thing that I can think of is to get your fire arms fixed and tuned in the summer and get them sighted in well before the season. This also goes for Bows.

If you can scout, scout, scout. Find the most used trails, set up some camera’s, position your stands (if you can) where they need to be, well ahead of the season. And then hope, pray and keep your fingers crossed.

Get permissions to hunt land you would like to hunt, or adjoining permissions, to enter to track a wounded animal.

One other thing that some over look in gettig ready is be in shape. This can be one of the biggest things you can do for yourself. being out of shape can trun a good hunt in to a bad one real quick. A good way to start getting on shape is bird hunting. This can help in many ways. while bird hunting you can get your leg and hart working good and you can also check out the area for any signs of deer. The biggest reason for being in shape is safety. Accidants happen while hunting and being tired. Be safe out there this deer season.
