I have used Rocky Mountain Broadheads for years with no complaints but this year I switched to Muzzy’s because of all the good things I have heard about them. I will let you know how much I like them once I connect with something.

Is your bow well tuned? I. E. shooting bullet holes through paper… Is it possible the deer moved or the angle wasn’t quite what you thought it was?
Are you shooting draw weight/arrow weight that you should expect a “pass through” shot to enhance a heavy blood trail? All the broadheads are good but not any better than G-5s. They do need to be touched up on a stone or leather strop for ultimate sharpness.
If you must change don’t overlook Slick Tricks…awesome flight…scary sharp!October 24, 2007 at 2:59 am #619119Please don’t be offended… but a “good hit” is in the lungs…an well built, razor sharp Montec in the lungs will kill the Deer…every time.

Bad shots happen. Sometimes by our own hand, sometimes, by nature. Just this morning, I pulled out of my driveway, and there was a yearling, running in the ditch, with an arrow sticking out of its rump. Very poor shot placement, could have even been a Muzzy !!! This deer will probably get taken down by coyotes, it was rather small to begin with.

October 24, 2007 at 3:01 pm #18429Agreed to what Tom said. However, i do not like Slick Tricks I could not get them to fly like a field tip and i know of a lot of people that have had the same problem. Im not trying to bash you Tom but IMO i would not go with them. Some people have gotten them to work and if you think you could great theyre not that expensive if you end up not liking them. Good luck on your choice

October 24, 2007 at 3:35 pm #18434I use the Striker’s and love them! I have yet to stick a deer with these, but my hand can vouch for the sharpness of the broadheads
I was in the broadhead market for a long time, and picked these over the rage heads. From what I heard these create quite a hole, are durable and fly great.
First time i’ve heard bad about these broadheads, intersted in hearing other opinions.

It sounds to me like the Montec G5 broadhead would probably be an adequate broadhead. I think you need to use a Luminock to have some idea where your arrow is flying. If you are not seeing the flight of the arrow, you are either not following through with your shot or you are shooting in dim light. I’m sorry but the sound of a good hit is indistinguishable. Please do not look at this as an attack on you, but as constructive criticism

October 24, 2007 at 7:20 pm #18468IMO, i would be shooting mechanicals if i were you. Something rear deploying such as Rage, snypers, Revolutions, Gators, etc. Something to open up and make the blood trail a little more, but it all depends on where you hit the deer
