I agree, giant buck. Anyone want to address the shot placement. All the pros preach the broadside shot. Looks to be like he shot this one from the front. I would take that shot if he was close but that is not the shot many pros would take. Some won’t even take that shot with a rifle.

October 17, 2007 at 4:17 am #29067Great looking Deer. looks like an extra point off the left side G2 for a subtraction, but super deer.

Jack.October 17, 2007 at 12:18 pm #29071Or Spinner Dave that could be a weed/leaf in front of the deer.
Darn those subtractions Jack.

October 18, 2007 at 1:59 am #29116Looks like a Rage broadhead hole to me . I cannot fault him for making the shot when it counted ,but I have watched alot of big name pros who gotta have the broadside shot or nothing.

October 18, 2007 at 12:54 pm #28886I’d say without hesitation, that’s a leaf. You can see the stem coming up to it. A Rage broadhead hole would at the very least have some pink in it.
Definitely a leaf.

October 18, 2007 at 2:42 pm #28899Thats not a hole…just a leaf If that was a hole, looks to me like a fixed blade entrance than a mechanical

October 19, 2007 at 1:50 am #28748Ok I can see the stem but it still looks like the skin is tore. I will have to wait for to view the footage before I am sure . Hate to be stubborn but thats the way I see it.

October 19, 2007 at 3:40 am #28749Are you serious? I was wondering how you assumed it was an entrance wound and not a quartering away exit wound until I saw the zoomed in picture Lip offerered up.

October 19, 2007 at 12:19 pm #27771No sign of blood either! I know they clean them up for pictures but the hair isn’t even matted down where they would’ve cleaned him up. Definately a leaf!

October 19, 2007 at 7:34 pm #27679In this case I would say it’s a leaf. If it is a hole then it’s definetely an exit hole. That would make it a perfect quartering away shot! Jay is the best in the business and would never take a poor shot
I think people like to start rumors just because their jealous!!

I can not wait!!!August 20, 2008 at 1:40 pm #37113What a show with some awesome footage Jay. Great story to go along with it. Chasing it for 3 years and never seeing it with his eyes, just cameras and sheds. Then hanging a set near the bucks bedroom a year earlier hoping for the opportunity. He got the right wind and his timing, persistence, and patience paid off BIG TIME.
Also to note the shot taken in question was a broadside shot and what one person thought was an entry hole turned out to be just a leaf after all.
Congrats on a buck of a lifetime Jay!
August 20, 2008 at 2:21 pm #37121Yup just goes to show you that hard work will pay off. I was watching closely also to see where that shot was placed, I should have placed a bet on that.
