I am currently setting up a new second bow, I’ve found all my components but a rest. What is the newest and greatest in dropaways. I’m hoping to keep as much brace height as possible. I actually haven’t even looked at any of them yet as I was waiting to get some IDA imput on this. Thanks, Randy

I’ve got Trophy Ridge Drop Zones on both my 3D & hunting rigs. No problems.

October 4, 2007 at 5:16 am #31314i have a Trophy Taker Shaky Hunter and i like it! However, i have heard that this rest isn’t 100% arrow clearance for a drop away rest I have had this rest for about 5 years and have had a few problems w/ it
I like the Muzzy Zero Effect, or the Quiktune Flipper rest would be a good choice. Also, Trophy Taker makes a good fall away rest called the Pronghorn. My buddy has it and really likes it. Those would be my choices

October 4, 2007 at 6:05 am #31330My vote goes to the ripcord- It applies the same principles as a whisker biscuit, yet is a drop away. The reason I picked this rest above all others is because my arrow is always ready and in the locked position, and it will never fallout. I tried a trophy ridge on my xt before buying the ripcord. For the the trophy taker, and all others like that rest, I felt the arrow could fall off or in a tough tricky shot situation, where the bow might be at an angle, the arrow has the potential to slip off.
I would strongly recommend at least taking a look at it! I am glad my friends recommended it to me.

October 4, 2007 at 9:21 am #31331Randy…I agree with Luke…Ive had the Rip cord for two years this is the third, and love it…arrow is “locked” in and cant move even if the bow is upside down…yet when you shoot it drops away with nothing touchin the arrow…I have now seen another rest out there that copied their design but not sure of the name…atleast look at it before you buy its a great rest…Jay

When I am sitting in my stand my bow lays across the bar infront of me and the arrow sometimes comes out of the little grove. But I put my finger on it when I pick it up and it is ready to shoot!
When target shooting I have never had a problem, Zero arrows have been unshootable! I like it..Good Luck

October 4, 2007 at 8:53 pm #31617If you can go to a pro shop and have them set up a few that is the best option. I use to shoot a whisker biscuit, which I loved, but now a use a schaffer drop away, works excellent. I really like the idea of the ripcord and it probably will be my next one some day. I also think the Muzzy zero effect is well designed also.

October 5, 2007 at 9:15 pm #31838Muzzy Zero Effect for me. It’s simple in design and does not seem prone to mechanical malfunction, though it’s a bit tricky to tune. I used the QAD rest for one season and loved it… right up to the point that it cost me a late season P&Y buck! I had a gravy 18 yd shot and when I released I never saw my arrow. I found it laying on the ground sideways about 15 yds from where I was sitting. Turned out that the spring on the rest had frozen and it was not dropping all the way down That was enough for me to move on to the Muzzy, though I’ve heard that they have since made improvements on the QAD rest.
