finally gonna get with the times and start using a trail cam. got 2 of them to put out but just a couple basic questions, location; do you guys prefer trails or food sources for set up, do you or how often do you move them around, and how often do you check them?

I say stick to the food source this time of year! #1 spots are apple trees #2 spots are edges of bean fields!

keep the cam in each spot for a week and move them to new areas!

    Good luck!

I would say both! I try to find a main trail that leads to a prime feeding area. I will set one camera in a staging area near the feeding area and one on the edge of the field where the trail comes out.

I don’t use cameras, but I have been doing a ton of scouting lately and watering spots have been my most reliable for buck sightings…maybe due to the hot weather we have been having? I think more likely they can feed in any number of spots, but secure water sources are more limited. Also, watering spots will remain consistant right thru until the snow flies, whereas food sources change dramatically as we get closer to fall. Try one, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
