Anyone else out there tried these now. It is pretty much a second sight located a few inches from your main sights with cross hairs and also I saw Mitch Hagen in Driven 24/7 shooting one with a peep hole and it eliminates having a peep sight on the string. The advatage I see in this is the fact I can see better in low light conditions. I at times have struggled finding my target through the peep in the last half hour especially on cloudy nights. Anyone have any experience with these at all?

Erick, I have not tried them, but they do make different diameter openings on Peeps. The smaller diameters are for 3-D & some larger openings are more practical for Hunting. What size Peep opening are you using??? I can’t remember mine, but just an idea. The peep I use now, if I can’t see my target through it is too late/early.

Try it next time you practice, once you get used to it you will never go back.

I do use a fairly large peep on my bow but sometimes I wear my contacts and somes my glasses and have struggled with seeing for some reason with the contcts in but pulled back a bow with the new style and really liked the way it felt.

July 24, 2007 at 8:37 pm #33165I know exactly what your talking about. I have a larger peep on my string as well, but still have troubles in low light conditions. Or shooting from a dark woods into a still light field. I haven’t heard of this product what are they?

July 24, 2007 at 9:36 pm #33170I’ll wade in here…I shot competitive archery for several years as an amateur and Pro Staffer. For purely hunting purposes I encourage shooters to eliminate peeps if at all possible. I have guided archery hunters for Deer/Bear for several years…the “big ones” almost always seem to come at very last shooting light…even the biggest peep (RedHawk) wont cut it… Arrgh! I can still see that shoulder crease but not through the peep!
I employ a 3 pt anchor…chin/nose on the string release hand locked under my jaw. I put a brass nocksert on the string where my nose touches or you may use a kisser button on your lip…I line up my sting on the riser edge when starting this technique but in awhile it becomes subconscious. I have taught this technique with great success to many friend and clients over the years…Otherwise there are several Red Dot, Hind Sight and other types of peepless options out there.

July 26, 2007 at 5:39 am #33204Tom Miranda shoots a Hind Sight and HE says it works great. I have had no problem shooting through a large peep. I have great eye sight but prefer the larger peep over the smaller ones that you can by at an archery store. Also as said before, shooting with both eyes open helps a lot!!!!!!!!! I used to shoot with one eye open but it’s just too hard to get on game fast enough and to watch the arrow connect on the shot.
Doesn’t the 3 point form, especially the string contacting your face have an effect on arrow flight??? Ive heard this from a couple competition shooters and they say that’s not good…

July 26, 2007 at 2:08 pm #33209I would think that is only an issue, if at all, if you are burying the string on your anchor. I like watching those pros shoots and it seems almost all have sometype of multi-point anchor.

July 26, 2007 at 2:50 pm #33210I use the Anchor sight by archery innovations. Love it. I will say this, after you shoot enough and are consistently anchoring at the same spot, you barely even look at it. I can see it coming more into play when trying to shoot from an awkward position.

They told me do not bother and put the biggest peep sight on they have and it made a HUGE difference even shooting the action screen last night, man did that get the blood flowing drawing back on big gucks in the black tunnel! They said they carried them for 2 years and people loved them but they also had MANY people have trouble with them coming loose or moving a slight bit ect. He said it is just to many moving parts unlike a peep sight so for now I am going to try this bigger peep and see how it works. Don’t be suprised to see one on my back up bow this fall though to test it out.
