I used them last year on 3 deer with no problems. The only problem i had was stalking elk, if you barley touched the razor on a weed it would “un-lock” the blade. This could be a big problem if you didnt notice and tried to shoot it that way.

crankn is 100% correct! These are great heads but the only drawback is what crankn mentioned. The blades will pop out if they get caught on any type of grass I had the opportunity to shoot these heads before they even hit the market and can tell you they work great other than that one little issue.

On a side note, you should never use the same head more than once on an animal. I know a lot of guys will argue with me here but too many things can happen once you have already shot a head in the past at an animal. Always remember to respect the animals you are after as they deserve to be harvested in the cleanest and most ethical way

could you put a small rubber band around it without changing the mechanics of the blades?

I would think that it would affect flight. I believe that was a major reason they got away from the banded types.

About that elk…. I had a nice 6×6 at fifty yards. So i draw my bow and wait for him to turn broadside, and i accidently hit my release. The good news is my arrow hit 10 yds. short.

The Rage were originally designed by Rocky Mountain, they made the Snypers. Same design and everything except Slipcam Tech. and bigger cutting diameter. The Snypers have an O ring to keep the blades intacked. Whereas the Rage don’t. You wouldn’t need to put an O ring on the blades but it would make ME more confident when they are on the end of my arrows!!

I had great luck with them last year. I used the 2 blade 2″-awesome hole! I shot my pre rut buck at 37yds quartering away and the only complaint I could have is I hit the opposite shoulder bladeand had no pass through. Deer was dead within 300 yds with both lungs deflated.Picture is attached to this post. Excellent blood trail with only an entry hole. The next doe I shot at 25,pass through dead at 40 yds with a blood trail a blind man could follow. The final deer I shot I made a shot too far back, my fault not the heads, it was an odd angle etc. But I feel because the head was so devistaing and caused so much trauma she was dead up the hill 300 yds from the shot. I caught liver luckily but man alive there was so much internal bleeding she was done. Not proud of the shot but that rage gave me the extra stuff I needed to put her in the freezer.

Now that I moved to western SD, I had to make the switch to the 1.5″ 3 blade. SD law states expandables can be no larger than 1 7/8″ . Seems silly to me, but I gotta follow the law to pursue my passion.

As stated earlier they are are 1 deer head but so are all heads I use to harvest game. I have been shooting a lot out here on windy days and I like how they fly.I didn’t realize how much further my targets MAY be, so I am really putting in my time at 35-50 yds.I always bring the extra o rings with just in case I cut one while on the hunt. I have found a tool with a small hook on the end that has a handle on it like a screwdriver packs nicely in my pack and allows me to swap o rings in the field if needed.

14 days until antelope archery out here! I can hardly wait to set up the double bulls and try to get my first goat

Good luck to all this season!

Tell Rob we are on for next fall and to quit whining. I personally feel mechanicals are the only way to go when shooting in the high winds of the prairies of North & South Dakota.

About the goat hunt, we should apply for Wyoming or Montana. Those things are thick out there!!
