Lightening in your Veins & Thunder in your Chest

Yesterday as I was drving to a job-site and I heard a song that had those lyrics in it and it made me think. When was the last time I had that feeling? The feeling or sensation I love so much but only happens once or twice a year if I’m lucky.

When and where were you when you felt the Lightening shoot through your veins and you felt the Thunder in your Chest. or in other words, when did you guys experience loss of bodily control and get overtaken by your emotions or other wise known as “Buck Fever”?????

I expereinced this last in early November as I had a 165 class non typical 15 pointer come in dogging a doe and come through my lane 2 times head down and chasing a doe. Once he had her trapped in between me and him, pinning her against the river ledge. After he took off with her, I had to take a seat, because I felt that feeling come on ever so strong. It was not a full fledge Fever, but it was good enough to make me weak in the knees.

The other time I thought I would get it last year, but did not was on the last day of the year on the Deer drive with Stacie. I think I did not get the “Fever” after the shot because I was able to let all that emotion out, release it and share it, instead of keeping quiet, letting it stew deep inside me.

What about you? When was the last time you felt that “Sensation” I have been chasing half way around the world?

That wasn’t what you had in mind was it.

    In line with your thinking……
Last fall when I peeled the single honker off the flock and pull it right into gun range for Heidi’s 20ga, seeing her pop out of the layout blind and fold that thing up with one shot was unbelievable. That is what hunting is all about…making memories that are etched in your mind forever!!!

held at full draw for about a minute and a half waiting to turn from quartering to, to broadside and making the shot at 35 yards, and getting it all on film

Every time I hear the “Fred Bear” song by Ted Nugent. That gets me going!

    I can’t find it on I-Tunes either.

Tony and Mallard said it right, You just never know what you’ll see and experience evrytime out even if it’s the same spot everytime. As far as Mallards reply, Gobbler and I listed to that song everytime we hunt Ripley, Nothing like tail lights and dusty roads and Fred Bear, well almost nothing. Lip, there is absolutley no substitute for that feeling I live for it and my threshold for it never increases. I have experienced it many times over the years and it keeps me comming back for more. I would have to say for me was in 02′ I’d got a pic of the biggest deer I’ve seen on this property a tall wide 9pt. I seen him bowhunting the morning before gun season on a half run on the tail of a doe, just 30yrds. from me. The next day I left for NW MN rifle season It was 4 days of pure heck and I was still doing what I live for, hunting whitetail, just cause a thousand thoughts came and went wondering where is that deer, who shot it, who wounded it, how far off the property has he been chased etc, etc. Well I made it home for the second w-end of shotgun season and hunted 3 days without seeing a quality buck. Well on the 4th and final day I decided to leave my stand due to high winds and nestled in the base of a pine out in a crp field. As light was just about to the end I seen a deer standing out about 100 yrds away I glasses it and it was a doe just as i lowered my binos I saw a bigger deer creep up out off some lower ground and they were on the move. I put my gun up and it was him, I let out a whistle and then a federal sabot and saw him drop. I thought oh my god did I see that right? Low and behold I walked up and there he layed my first trophy buck and just in the nick of time. Wherever that unbelieveable feeling of emotion comes from I have no idea but I live for it and like I said and as you know nothing compares
