With a early fall post by I believe Lntony2 titled “Show some mounts” being such a success, I thought this perhaps might be also. It’s about that time of year we look forward to finding our “white gold”. I hope you all join in and share your finds! Anybody who hunts for sheds knows the time involved and that makes a successful hunt so sweet! not to mention, that buck is still roaming your woods and if conditions and health are in check he should be bigger and badder this fall! Here is my collection of over 13yrs of searching. All are from central MN except a few mullies near Huelett,WY. I had to sport my $7.00 Wally World shirt to authenticate this post!

pic 2 Two mullies, some of which I stained due to sun bleaching.

January 29, 2007 at 6:12 am #28561pic 6 Matched set. I found the 5 pt side with blood still on its cuticle area. As you can see I found it’s match a few weeks later within 150 yrds.

January 29, 2007 at 6:36 am #28563pic 8 These are my best finds. 15 scorable points even after being chewed to heck I walked by the exact spot just over a week earlier, no antlers then. Boy, those red squirrels can chew up antlers in a hurry These matches were found within 10 feet of each other

January 29, 2007 at 7:12 am #28565I have been out hunting for sheds alot in the past few years but have yet to find any. Can you give up some clues as to where to look, what kind of area to be concentrating on, ect. Also, I thought about going out within the next week or so but I just saw a nice 8 to 10 pointer and he was still carrying his rack. Any ideas on how soon they will be dropping? Thanks.

January 29, 2007 at 7:28 am #28566Bull, In this order I concentrate on bedding areas, fields with feed in them, corn, winterwheat etc, etc. I will also check trails but I’ve only found 2 sheds on trails. I’ve heard you should check fence or creek crossings, as they may jar one loose jumping although I’ve never found one in MN in either of those 2 places. They drop anytime from Dec-Apr. I always wait until late Feb to search and I’ve seen plenty of bucks in mid-late Mar with both antlers on their head. If I find 1 per year I consider it a success as that has been my average for the last 2 years, some years none. Check out the shed hunting post as that also contains some good info on searching. Good luck!
