Well im almost embarrassed to post this pic as its the smallest buck ive shot since i was probably 14..but it was in a special hunt for the city and we could take a doe and a buck so i thought id post it..ive passed MANY bigger this year in the special hunt and on my land but its gettin crunch time and i want to hunt my land the next two weeks so this guy got it sunday morning…im still waiting for the big boy though…quick story on this one..saw several does about 50 yrds thru the tree…blew the trutalker a few times and he came right in..he stopped at about 15yrds out and was rubbin a small tree good and hard…he licked a few branches then walked right at me..i grunted to make him stop and stopped about 8yrds from my tree…as i was about 23 ft up in the lone wolf hand climber he was not in the best shooting position..let the arrow fly and saw him go down …the does he was with stood under my stand for about 5 mins then walked away..I do practice good mngmt with the deer on my land but as it was a special hunt with the goal of “reducing” deer in the area and its getting to the end of the season i took him…so dont laugh…. Why in the world would you be embarrassed of that deer? That’s excatly what management hunts are for. I shot one smaller than that this year and was just as proud as some of my bigger bucks! You’ll be smilin ear to ear when you sink your teeth into those loins I’ll bet! Congrats, and be proud of him!! Nice deer!

Great picture- it isn’t always about how big they are right?

nice buck dude, exactly what he said, that is what management hunts are about. It’s getting late in the season, i would have been just fine shooting that deer

If you didnt like shooting the deer or feel embarrassed then why shoot?

All deer to me with a bow are trophys. There is a post in the deer hunting section, from some guys who didnt have a shot at a deer all season.

If I was you I would be proud

    Have a great Christmas

Jaybird, As they said, a bow kill of any is an trophy and you did exactly what the city wanted you to do, reduce their herd. You should be smiling in the pic, what, did Frito forget to say “CHEESE!” We both know if that was on one of your other properties he’d still be walking now. Congrats!

RVRAT, I had a nice buck like this I was feeding in the back yard last week. I was in Cleveland for the weekend and I got home Sunday and haven’t seen him since? Have you seen him or do you have any idea what might have happened to him??
    Nice buck!

Jay, you should’ve given me a call. You saw what I did w/ Coppertops buck in his photo. It would’ve looked like a wall hanger. Congrats on the late season buck
