Moultrie Trail Cam question

I have a Moultrie Game Spy 100 trail camera. It has worked well this past year especially for the price. The only problem is that the 6 volt batteries don’t last very long especially in cold weather. I was thinking of getting a rechargeable 6 volt battery and a solar panel charger. Has anyone used the rechargable 6 volt battery with the solar panel charger? If so, how did it work?

    Thanks!

I have the rechargeable batteries for mine. They will last about a week in cold weather, thats about how long I can stand it to see what is on the pics. Never have used the solar panel because of the theft problems. I think it would be like waving a flag over your camera attracting attention. I had my chair stolen out of my tower blind this year and it was a piece of junk. If I dont keep my cameras concealed I fear they will be stolen.Thats another reason I dont hang 400$ cameras around either. I know they wont be able to acess them…but they dont. I live way to close to Missouri

My buddy and I both have the same camera and were having the same problem. He added wire to his and bought a 6 volt tractor battery which he leaves on the ground underneath the camera. It has worked well for him.

Good point about the theft aspect of the solar panel. Luckily it will be on my land most of the time and my neighbors are all good people. I am hoping that the solar panel would keep a decent charge on the battery especially when it gets cold.
