Dad bags a nice buck!!

    Today was a good day!! I am not a huge gun-hunter. Meaning, I would rather shoot a deer with a bow, than any other weapon. But, I really enjoy spending time with friends and family during shotgun season. A friend and I were pushing a piece of timber, to my father, brother, and cousin. I saw this buck, and didn’t shoot- I also watched him a few times during bow season, and thought that will be a huge deer in two years.

    Anyways, he was running the wrong way, so I moved, and got him heading the right way. Soon after that he runs right up to my dad, and one shot the deer is done. I am really happy for dad!! Tomorrow, hopefully, my brother, and cousin who just got back from Iraq can get a shot at a nice buck!!

    This deer had one brow tine that was a little over 12″

    Your father got a nice buck..looks like it was hit a bit farther back…ive shot several deer in the same area..(at least it looks like it from the pic)…and they dont go far either…not the perfect shot but gets the job done…congrats again

    Yes indeed those are some serious browtines!! Iowa does have some great genetic’s Wish more of us could hunt there
