Got the o.k./permission to head up for weekend #2 of muzzle loader from the goddess of the house. Have to be back Sat night however. I just checked the weather in Wadena for Sat. morning @ 6 am 12 degrees F with 21 mph winds, feels like -6F, 7 am 11 degrees F with 20 mph winds, feels like -7F.. ………………………nice

I’m by no means an expert on this, but from what I have ever seen deer don’t much at all in winds like that. The cold doesn’t bother me, but I’m wondering if I’m waisting my time this weekend to even bother going up. Not only that, I’ll be up all night stoking the stove as the winds are to be at 26 mph or so around midnight. Just wondering what you guys think……I’d make some good ol’ brownie points if I stayed home, and could for sure get back up there the following weekend.

Fireman, I seen 4 deer today at noon. The only chance you will have, is if you go. If you feel the deer aren’t coming to you, then go after them. Lets face it, if you are proficient, you have a weapon capable of taking the animal fairly easily at 100 yards. Do a little walking and glassing. You never know, what you might find laying down…

I’d rather shiver behind a tree all day than stay home and do what she probably has planned for ya….like hang Christmas lights! Go, you might get one!

Key on the food source. Get around the dinner table and you will have a good chance at scoring.

I would Go and spend anyday on the treestand than stay home. I got my biggest buck on muzzleloader opener this year. You never now when that big one is going to show up.

Fireman, By all means go. I shot two of my biggest bucks on extremely windy days. The last one was on Wed. eve with the loader. I chose not to sit in my stand either time because the trees were swaying too much to ever be able to shoot accurately, that tells you how gusty it was both times. Rather I cut myself into a 12′ pine tree and stand next to the trunk. You’ll be glad you did! Good luck!
