I had this buck come in after rattling a while back. I just got to the edge of the timber ,had the wind and a nice area to work. I slammed the horns racked the grass and grunted . I really put on a show. I put the horns down picked up the bow and as I spit out the grunt tube, he was there. I believe I was more startled than him. My eyes got real big and I am sure he caught me. He walks around to my right I come to full draw and he stops. In the back of my mind I know I am busted but if he comes 5 more steps he is mine. It would have been about 15yrd shot but it was not to be . It really gets the ol heart going tho.

What a beast! Looks like he’s been doing a little horn-slamming of his own!

He looks like a fur covered locomotive! Imagine what it takes to break a main beam like that! He deserves to fight another year.

Do you suppose that is a fighting injury or a run in with a bumper?

Good question. Probably a bumper and some pavement. Who knows though.

Thanks Guys, I wont even go into the rest of the morning but it involved a miss on a nice 8 pointer that I have not come to terms with yet . As I left the farm I grabbed the card out of the camera and he was on it. That was the first pic of him ,in that condition anyway. Firearm season opens Saturday and I hope he makes it through so we can go at it next year with a full rack. Better start early before he gets to fighting.
