Happened to my uncle last year with a “clerk” issuing the wrong tag. I believe he ended up calling the DNR main office in St. Paul 888-646-6367 for the general info line. They will transfer you to the proper department. Hope it gets straightened out for him

GJK, Last year I purchased a archery and a multi-buck. Now I know I can only tag one buck either way but it allowed me to party hunt with a firearm. At the last minute I decided I wanted to buy a muzzloader and hunt that season as well. In the regs it states you can upgrade your tag from a regular or multi-buck to and all season anytime throught the season. So I tried it at four ELS agents and they all said it would not go through. The clerk at S.W. said it was because I also had an archery tag. She gave me the phone # of the DNR liscensing center and said I would have to call there and they could cancel out my archery tag and then it would work. Well last minute me when I called they were off for Thanksgiving break so I had to miss opening w-end. I finally got ahold of them on Tuesday after opener and they canceled out my archery tag and I went to an ELS agent and I was able to upgrade my multi-buck to an All Season which allowed me to muzzleloader hunt. It was a kick in the *&%! not being able to hunt opener and I’m guessing unless you get ahold of the licensing dept. your bro might be out of luck too. I’m sure nobody will be in until Mon. either. Maybe you could try to get ahold of A C.O. and see if they can offer help but I tried that too last year and he didn’t get back to me before I was able to upgrade. I feel your pain and that sucks. I hope you’re able to take care of it or already have.

Hope your brother can get this worked out Glenn, please let us know how it turns out. Just an FYI for next year for anyone that would like to hunt more than one season in MN, the All Season License it a great way to go. If you are like me I just plain love to deer hunt as long as I can in a variety of ways and different places and the All Season License allows me to do just that. I can bow hunt, gun hunt, and muzzload hunt all on one license, even if you only gun hunt the All season License is a good deal as you can hunt all zones in MN except the 3B shot gun season.

Ok he got it changed over, wow was that ever a joke. The guy at Holiday that made the error had to do some calling around. My brother asked him to cancel it out while there but apparently he had not a clue on how to. Well my brother called him back and he said he was working on it and with that he left the guy his number which the guy apparently kept calling the wrong one so he says. But he did get ahold of someone that knew what they were doing. I am just glad we did not have to do this all tomorrow since we are meeting the property owner at a certain time and this was not going to fit the schedule if we had to try and get ahold of the DNR and then go and repurchase.
We have never hunted this land so we meet scout camp out and then come morning we hunt.
This trip is well overdue. Well thank you all for your input and I hope you all have a safe weekend. Will post Sunday with our results from the hunt. Hopefully old Mister Murphy stays clear from us here out…

Glad it got worked out. I just wish if they don’t know how to run it and correct it that they just wouldn’t touch it.

Well it was an awesome weekend and the property was excellent. The deer were there, just not in the same direction I was looking. I was in the sky box facing the trail I believed to be the most recent used when I heard noises behind me. I slowly turned my head around and there was a train of deer just making there way thru the woods without a care in the world. I counted six I started to creep around window was already open as I pulled up there was only one deer in site the last of the group I started to take aim and by that time the deer was 25 yards away from me but in between him and I was a massive brush pile I seen him thru the sites but felt it was a bad shot so I with drew my intentions of dropping this deer with a chance of missing it or just wounding it,with hopes without the shot they would return thru the next day. Sunday morning 19 degrees out cold with a slight breeze not a deer in site all morning. The day prior I set off one of those Bombs (Doe Urine) where I placed the can was different from where it sat now and to my surprise the deer left me a little turd right next to the can letting me know they came by well before we got to our stands. This deer was a rude deer as well since it decided to take its dump right at the bottom of the stairs leading to the skybox. So still deerless but still have some time left to drop one.
